A wonderful morning awaits you in the fabulous K'Rd, Tamaki Makaurau Auckland.
Starting at Anna Miles Gallery for Cat Fooks, Terebella. Much has been made of the top layer of Fooks’ work... in which the ingredients of her art are suspended..
We will along Cross St to take in the gallery of street art, to the popup gallery for Tu Toi/Studio One (while the wonderful Old Police station premises are being seismically strengthened) showing Fiona Clark, Seen and Heard: celebrating the courage, strength, and tenacity of our le***an sapphic communities over the 50 years since Gay Liberation.
Then along to East Street and K Road for Artspace with Door, window, world: Maree Horner, J.C. Sturm, a selection of rarely seen work spanning sculpture, printmaking, writing, and ephemera, by two pioneering female voices from Aotearoa New Zealand
Across the road to RM Gallery with the recently opened Josh Carlier Entanglement, an exploration of the extended self, and the objects that appear within this space, be it sound, light, thought or sensation.
Down the street barely a stones throw away, Michael Lett Gallery showing Kate Newby, Had us running with you. The artist has made the whole building an artwork; by replacing its windows with her own glass panes, it is in fact opened up, punctured with many holes, so that air can flow in and out from many, many perforations.
What stunning and varied exhibitions we have. Expect to be delighted, fascinated, intrigued and informed, all with input from art professional passionate and extremely knowledgeable Associate Professor Linda Tyler.
All for only $25. Book online at https://www.artexplore.co.nz
Then an invite to coffee at one of the nearby delightful cafes in K'Rd (Timeout - One of the 'coolest streets in the world').
