Cinematic seacaves around Tarakihi Island. Bennett Lim and his students from AUT - Auckland University of Technology scored the best weather window for a 5-day sea kayak journey, starting in central Auckland and exploring all the way down to the Eastern end of Waiheke. The rest of us are rather jealous!

An amazing night on the water with our City Lights Kayak Tour! Stunning scenes around the Viaduct & Westhaven, with dragon boaters practicing, a women’s sailing regatta, and the Sky Tower lit up in all its glory. We sipped tea by the Maritime Museum and even enjoyed live music playing on the Viaduct. Such a treat! Auckland

Rangitoto Island - A Place of Ancestral Stories

Many place names in Aotearoa (New Zealand) reflect the rich histories of our tūpuna (ancestors). Rangitoto translates to 'Bloody Sky', with its full name, Ngā Rangi-i-totongia-a Tama-te-kapua, meaning "The days of the bleeding of Tama-te-kapua." This name recalls the story of Tama-te-kapua, captain of the Arawa waka, who was badly wounded after losing a battle to the Tainui iwi at Islington Bay.

As we celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, let’s explore Motukorea (also known as Browns Island) in the Hauraki Gulf.

The name Motukorea combines “motu”, meaning island, with “korea” or “torea”, meaning oystercatcher. This island remains a vital habitat for these coastal birds, as well as for the threatened New Zealand dotterel. 🐦🌿

Motukorea is one of the best-preserved volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic field and is only accessible via private vessel. Discover its unique history and natural beauty with us!
