Did you know our cruises pick up and drop off in Kororareka/Russell? which means if you start your cruise in Paihia you can hope off in Russell at the end to explore the township maybe do a Russell Mini Tour or even grab a bite to eat with lots of stunning waterfront cafe/restaurants.

Catch one of the 3 local ferries back operating every 20 minutes daily throughout the summer! Looking at Russell today it's hard to believe its was given the nickname "Hell Hole" ☀️ 💙

Rā o Waitangi!

Paihia streets are flooded with people today in celebration of Waitangi Day! Waitangi Day has been a significant day on New Zealand’s calendar since the Treaty of Waitangi was first signed in 1840. Make the most of your day by popping up to the treaty grounds and engaging in the 150 market stalls offering an amazing array of art and crafts, clothing and a wide variety of food options!

Pictured is Ngātokimatawhaorua the world's largest ceremonial waka, while our company "wakas" are a little more modernised these days, seeing this waka out annually on the 6th of February every year is spectacular and humbling, especially when it can take upto 80 paddlers and over 50 passengers! no horse power like us! just pure man power 💪 💙

Celebrating over 125 years in the Bay

When Albert Ernest Fuller launched his sailing ship Undine in 1887 to deliver coal supplies to the islands, he had no idea he was planting the seeds of a flourishing tourism industry in the Bay of Islands. After fitting a motor to the Undine in the early 1900s, he was able to deliver coal and essential supplies as far as Cape Brett.

In 1927 Fuller acquired the Cream Trip from Edmund Lane with facilities to transport cream from the islands, and in 1928 won the Royal Mail contract allowing him to deliver post.

When the road opened from Whangarei to Russell in the 1930s, a car ferry service began between Paihia and Russell. During World War II, the military established a barge crossing between Opua and Okiato. This was continued during peacetime by the Deeming family and eventually obtained by Fuller, making Fullers an integral part of the community through the provision of services to both tourists and locals.
