Team Kiwi Traveller This July Scotty, Ben and Mitch will attempt to drive a "small and sh*$" car 15,000 kms from London to Mongolia as part of the Mongol Rally

Beginning July 16, 2017, three intrepid/foolish Canterbury men will assemble under the 'Kiwi Traveller' banner to spend two months driving a "small and s**t" car through 21 countries from England to Mongolia, ending in Russia. That’s 15,000 kilometres (to put this in context, the circumference of Earth at the equator is about 40,000kms). It's called The Mongol Rally - and the route we’ve chosen wi

ll take us through are England, France, Germany, Austria, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia (this is where its gets extra interesting)... Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia. Starting in London on July 16th 2017, there are just three simple rules to the Mongol Rally:

Rule 1: The vehicle must be “small & s**t”. Rule 2: No outside help - once it starts, we’re on our own. Rule 3: We must "Save The World" - i.e. raise money for charity. We’ll working hard to raise funds for charity along the way. Mongol rules state at least 500 pounds (around NZ$900) must go to Cool Earth, which buys back rainforest to protect. (www.coolearth.org)

We’ve decided everything else we raise (hopefully several thousand) will go towards Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue - which some of you may know played a critical role in saving Scotty’s life after a nasty crash in North Canterbury just before Christmas 2015. (www.airrescue.co.nz)

And by all means, get in touch directly if you have a sponsorship proposal - we’re game for anything. It’s important to remember the long list of countries we’ll be travelling through, which will allow for unique videos, photos, product placement and shoutouts. THE TEAM:

Scotty Bamford (gentlemanly mustache):

A jack-of-all trades - bus/taxi driver, rafting-guide, farmer, expert lover - and currently the host of CTV's "Rural NZ" farming show (www.facebook.com/RuralNewZealand). Mitchell Pannett (luscious beard):

The second most powerful man in the Methven vegetable seed industry. He also has a great beard and above-average banter. He’s previously worked in France, so we’re banking on his intimate knowledge of the country, language and women to come in handy for the 48 hours we spend there. Ben Irwin (rumored to be able to grow an orange beard):

A TV reporter whose career peaked three years ago when he told New Zealanders to "get high and get out of the country" while doing a live cross about a “blood moon” (If you unsure what this is referencing - just Google it)

While Ben (otherwise known as Squid) has little-to-no knowledge about vehicles or mechanics in general, he does have a penchant for paperwork and applying for visas.

Hundreds of adventurous, intrepid and many would say heroic people from around the globe will soon set off on the 2018 Mongol Rally.

With their journey only two weeks away from kicking off, Team KT has been reminiscing about the magical 47 days spent on the road during last year's rally.. ..by watching our Oscar™, Emmy™ and Grammy™ winning documentary.

Feel free to give it a hoon too!

Many of you have asked: "What happened to your beautiful steed known as Black Magic?"

Well, we've had an update, all the way from Eastern Europe:

"The material described above was destroyed by the hydraulic excavator at the Paldiski department of AS Kuusakoski, located at Rae poik 14, Paldiski, Estonia"

RIP Black Magic - you will forever be in our memories.

Many people have asked over the past few months just how munted some cars got on the Mongol Rally...

Well, here's a video shot by Mitchell of ol' mate Jamie and his wagon battling to the rail head (where we disposed our cars) in Russia.

Wow! Thanks to over 115 awesome donators we've managed to raise an enormous $8,847.99 for the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust!!

And Scotty's extra $500 will push the total to comfortably over $9000 - unreal.

This is way more than we ever thought possible when we first started planning this trip around 15 months ago.

Ben, Scotty and Mitch are genuinely blown away with the support. All of you rule.

Now to announce who's won the Spot Messenger G3 tracker, kindly offered up by our sponsor Tony Glentworth at SPOT NZ.

The winner of the package worth over $600 is..... well, you're gonna have to watch the video to find out!

Also, special thanks to all our sponsors.

This trip really would have been dead in the water if it were not for all of you who jumped on board early in the piece:

Chris Woods Contracting - BrightSparks Auto Electrical Dunedin Ltd - Spray Marks Graphics Ashburton - Wayne's School of Rock - (https://www.instagram.com/billirwinnz/) - Broadcastmedia - South Pacific Seeds - Hurunui Young Farmers - Liz McMillan - Hawarden Waikari Lions - Andi's Alternative Entertainment - AGS Earthmoving

Until our next adventure, God Speed!

Hewy's final flight!

Team Kiwi Traveller thought it was only right if we gifted our helicopter to our youngest follower but Oscar (pictured) is more than that!

This little fella also made a generous donation and all at the ripe old age of 8 months.

Thanks Oscar and I hope you have many adventures just like we have!

There is still time to donate, thanks to you legends whom have donated so far!

Birds eye view of 'Black Magic'.

This fantasic little car managed to drive three slightly overweight boys from England to Mongolia - Russia

Roof racks were far expensive, so some kiwi ingenuity and a strop through the roof did the trick!

All donations must be in by the end of September, Donate today.

Some people are wise and smart..
Scotty 'Singlet Tan' Bamford on the other hand is not..

Using Benzin (Petrol) as a highly dangerous fuel source meant for Team Kiwi Traveller our pasta had an average cooking time of 3 mins!
Best of all, no one got burnt or died!

Better living everyone.

If you enjoyed our journey and free Facebook winter entertainment, flick us a coin or two for charity to hit our 10k target!

Here is the fourth member of our team proudly at the finish line.
'Hewy the helicopter' had to put up with hours of terrible chat, team controversy and singing of 'paradise by the dashboard light'

He was the voice of reason, knew what to say and kept the boys in line

Thank 'Hewy' for a fantasic journey

The Pamir Highway M41 is an old silk road that has been used for well over millennia.

This continuous road traverses through four countries -
Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan - and it's the second highest motorway in the world at 4655 metres and covers 1250 km

This photo was taken around 2 hours into a day we thought would be a short-cut but ended up being very long.

The road had massive chunks missing from flooding - here's a moment we decided to take in the view and forget the shocking roads!

Time : 10hrs 32mins
Distance: 144.6km

Our rally was all about raising money for the Canterbury Westcoast Air Rescue Trust. If you would like to help us reach our 10k target you can here ..

Also, special mention to all the new donators over the past few days.

We're now up to $7,557 for the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust.

Still plenty of time to donate, and remember - everyone who gives more than $10 goes in the draw to win a Spot G3 Satellite Messenger worth $667 thanks to Tony at SPOT NZ!

Currently we've raised a huge $6,500 thanks to a very generous 78 donators.

All this is going to Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust.

Over 6K is a huge amount, but we believe we can do even better.

We're collecting through our Give A Little page until September 30th, hoping to hit the very special 10k mark.

To help reach that goal, Tony Glentworth from SPOT NZ has very generously offered up something special.

Every person who donates $10 from now on (or has donated in the past) will go in the draw to win a G3 GPS Satellite Messenger with a one year subscription, valued at a whopping $667.

And get this - if we reach $10k, www.spotnz.com will put up a second G3.

The Spot G3 is the same tracker we used for our crazy adventure - and we can say first hand that it's a magnificent piece of kit.

Thanks to the G3 we know we traveled exactly 16,256 km - but perhaps more importantly, it provides a vital line of communication to family and friends from almost anywhere in the world, whether you're tramping, up a mountain, on the farm or fanging it through Turkmenistan in a rust bucket.

So throw in $10, $20 or more - all of it goes directly to saving people's lives (really, it does - the rescue trust tells us $10,000 would directly save TWO people's lives).

DONATE HERE: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/kiwitraveller

And please SHARE and LIKE - the more exposure, the better!

*prize(s) drawn October 1st, 2017.

You wouldn't believe it.. 47 days later, three idiots made it 18,000 odd kilometres across a third of the globe in a sh*te car.

Thanks everyone for the support - we couldn't have done it without you!

We've now raised around $6400 - with your help we can push that to $10,000!

Donations for Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust still being keenly accepted here until the end of the month:
