What fun and productive two hours this morning at Turanga public library. I had a small project to complete and had the use of their state of the art Bernina sewing machine and overlocker. As usual, there was their very knowledgeable and friendly staff to help with instructions!
Turanga meaning “stoping place” in Māori, is the largest public library in the South Island of New Zealand occupying almost 10,000 square metres of community space over four floors. Participating with Danish library design experts Schmidt Hammer Lassen, the local architects also had design discussions with Iwi Ngāi Tahu and the Ngāi Tūāhuriri rūnanga.
The new library was opened in 2018 as one of the best major project after the devastating Christchurch earthquakes of 2010 and 2011.
It is a welcoming place with so much to offer, come and see for yourself! and much more.

A lovely walk this morning through Hagley Park. This is the largest urban green open space in Christchurch, NZ. It was created in 1855 by the Provincial Government and reserved ‘forever as a public park’ by decree. Approximately 165 hectares (407 acres) of trees, bush and flowers wrap around the Botanic gardens.

Didn’t get to post these yesterday, time flies when one is having fun!
Our gratitude to the Canterbury Patchwork & Quilters Guild for giving us the opportunity to be part of their Biennial event and promoting us on their page. To all the lovely customers who supported us and renewed old friendships and memories.
To all the volunteers were marvellous, checking on us and offering to bring us hot drinks and biscuits and even carrying our boxes to the car. Thank you!

What a fabulous first day at Canterbury Patchwork and Quilt exhibition held at Papanui High School. There was such a buzz and so much positive energy.
Our gratitude to the organising Committee for giving us the opportunity to be a part of their celebration of talent. It was wonderful to reconnect with parents from Cashmere Primary and Rangi Ruru schools as well as former clients of Oriental Crafts, Chancery Lane. Also others friends and some new ones who are delighted to find us for their future projects!
