We could talk about how fun surfing is until we're blue in the face, so instead - here's five reasons why we believe everyone should give this sport a go... 🏄

🌊 Teaches you to be safe, confident and aware of the ocean; everything from tide patterns & rip currents to paddling out the back. Something all kiwi kids (and adults) should learn!

🫀 Keeps your heart happy! By paddling, popping up, and balancing on the wave you're using the heart's muscles and improving overall cardiovascular health

😎 Feeling stressed? Surfing is one of the best ways to improve your mental health! The energy you put in and get out of your session is entirely up to you, you could surf 'til you drop or chill out and take it all in; either way you're present in the moment at hand

💪 It'll make you stronger!! Not only is every muscle in your body working as a team, but by repeating the paddle-pop up-wipeout cycle your muscles will be gaining strength and memory. The more you do it, the stronger you get!

🏄‍♀️ You meet really epic people from all walks of life, most of who will be regulars at you local line up and become friends. The surfing community is the best!

Are you currently doing your NCEA achievement standards? Well, why not do them from the beach! 🥳

Our sessions run over the course of two days, students will learn how to read the conditions (wind, tide, rips, swell, currents), scrub up on their beach safety & hazards, while also learning all there is to know about the art of surfing. This programme covers NCEA level 1, 2 & 3, get in touch to book!🏄‍♂️

Back to schoolers, don’t fret!

While it may feel like the fun of summer is over, we promise that isn’t the case - we’ll still be running our Beach Days and NCEA accredited sessions, so you can surf, learn and have fun all at the same time.

Plus, it’s only a few weeks until April when we’ll doing the school holiday programmes all over again 😎

The most impactful education happens when there is enjoyment, adventure and the space to feel safe!

Our philosophy is that learning is something to enjoy and have fun with, soaking up information is always easier when there’s a mix of visual, vocal and kinaesthetic styles, which is why we teach with a range of skills. We combine land-based lessons with water sessions, providing students with a mix of all styles, a space to better themselves. Our moana is the greatest teacher after all! 🌊

Wave Warriors programme 🤙

We spent a few days surfing with students from Kawakawa and Hikurangi Primary on the shores of Sandy Bay! The 140 groms were brilliant, catching a mix of white water and green waves, while also learning how to be confident and safe in our moana.

Big thanks to Surfing New Zealand Inc for the work you do and to Foundation North for supporting this initiative; it’s companies like these that make surfing accessible to all! We had a blast 🏄‍♀️
