Government’s commonsense approach to reducing unnecessary compliance.

Minister of Transport Chris Bishop announced that NZTA will begin consultations to extend the COF inspection period from 6 months to 12 months for privately owned motorhomes, vintage cars, and vintage motorcycles.

Minister Bishop echoed the views of many members, noting that privately owned motorhomes travel significantly less than modern cars.

He also highlighted that evidence shows faults in privately owned motorhomes are half as likely to contribute to serious crashes, allaying safety concerns aligned with this decision.

While the Minister did not directly address the cost of frequent inspections, members will clearly benefit from this change—saving both time and money, not waiting in line for inspections and enjoying more time on the road.

Consultation on the proposed changes will begin on 24 February 2025.

The NZMTG just had it's 10th birthday party weekend in Taupo.

And here is one of our first NZMTG members who joined us 10 years ago.

What a great time we have had with so much laughter and fun along the way.

DAD

4 years : My dad can do everything.

5 years: My dad knows a lot of things.

8 years: My dad doesn't know everything.

12 years old: Oh well, my dad doesn't know about that.

14 years old: Don't mind my dad. He's so old-fashioned!.

21 years old: Him? Please is offline don't know.

25 years old: Dad may know a little bit of that, but otherwise, he's already his age.

30 years old: I'm not doing anything until I talk to dad.

40 years old: I wonder how dad would have handled this.

50 years: I would give anything for dad to be here to be able to talk about this with him.

Too bad you didn't value his knowledge, you could have learned a lot from him.
Remember dads only live once.

So take time right now and give him a call, because one day he might not be here to take your call.
