Ten years after she arrived in Norway, Shaw 9 Karma Police is continuing her winning ways, being first overall on line in this year's Færderseilasen, a 83 mile sprint to the Faerder light from Oslo and back to Horten, and 4th on corrected time. An incredible result considering she was racing against a fleet of hundreds of other boats, many much bigger than her, and it was mostly upwind! Great to see this little red rocketship being sailed so well and giving her owners such satisfaction.

A great day out for Shaw boats on Saturday, with fresh southwesterly conditions providing some great rides in two major races in different parts of the Hauraki Gulf. Shaw 35 Rehab joined a 50-strong fleet for the PIC Harbour Classic, a dash up and down the East Coast Bays, finishing second monohull over the line and taking second on PHRF in her division. The flying Shaw 750T Deep Purple blitzed the Waikato Yacht Squadron's Gulf Classic 60-miler, taking line honours by over an hour and handicap by 30 minutes, hitting a top speed 17.1 knots on a wet and wild ride. Skipper Phil sums it up: "The boat was a gem, so easy to sail fast, so much control, so forgiving when we screw up, she makes us look like rock-stars.''

Shaw boats were well represented at Bay of Islands Sailing Week 2024, with a range of designs competing across five divisions. The 9 metre Blue Dude had a great first outing with new owner Chris Hornell, competing in A division alongside Mike Sanderson’s 35 footer Rehab, where they had their hands full competing against the big boat fleet, including the TP52s.

In division D, Shaw 550 The Racoon scored some impressive results and wins on line despite being the smallest boat in the regatta.
The 750F Animal Biscuits and 7 metre Daisy Duke lead the way in the sportsboat division, while the 12 metre Blink, now under the ownership of Steve Mair and renamed Clockwork, showed she can mix it with the Fast 40s. Congratulations to all skippers and crew, and a great week’s sailing as always.

It's Shaw-time at Bay of Islands Sailing Week. Good luck to all the crews and here's hoping for some epic sends

Glancing down the ‘design’ column of the Bay of Islands Sailing Week entry list, there are several names that feature heavily. There are the ones you’d expect to see, like Elliott, Ross and Farr. But there’s another name that appears almost as frequently too - Shaw.

The NZ summer racing season got underway with the 120-mile PIC Coastal Classic from Auckland to Russell, in challenging southeasterly conditions. Shaw boats were up to the challenge, however, with Tony Dalbeth Hudson and the crew on Shaw 9 metre Deep Throttle taking the line and handicap double in division 2.
Mike Sanderson's team on the revamped Shaw 35 Rehab had a great run in their first outing coming in 2nd overall on corrected time and also gaining the distinction of being the first wooden boat to finish! Further south, Philip Hart Deep Purple Racing took his Shaw 750 trailer yacht Deep Purple on a three-day journey by road and ferry from Whitianga in the north to the South Island's Lake Aviemore for the NZ trailer Yacht nationals, taking the line honours win in division A.

Had the pleasure of joining Chris Hornell and the team on the TP52 Kia Kaha for the 40th Coastal Classic Auckland-Russell race over the weekend. It turned out to be one of the most interesting and tactical Coastals for some time, and we were really happy to lead our division up the coast to Cape Brett and hang on for a division win on corrected time. Great to see other boats with Shaw modifications putting in stellar performances too, with the Modified TP52 canter V5 taking the overall win on line, and the modified Farr 36 canter Kaizen having a great run too.

At the other end of the country two Shaw 750 trailer yachts, 44 40 and Deep Purple, were lining up for the 34th Lake Aviemore Classic at the picturesque hydro lake. Phillip Hart and team made the three-day road-trip from Whitianga in the North Island to join the fun. The breeze stayed in for the long classic race, with the two Shaw boats finishing first and second on line, with James Neill’s recently modified 44 40 taking the gun and setting a new race record.

First in a series to celebrate the Shaw 650 is the mighty Monkey Business. Built and campaigned in New Zealand by owner Matt Gottard of MG Composites NZ, she then made her way across the Tasman, where she was initially sailed by Cam Rae, based in Victoria. She's a well-travelled boat that has featured in regattas up and down the east coast, as far north as Airlie Beach. Where is she now?

Users say the performance and efficiency has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. The Shaw 10 metre Orbit, first launched in Auckland and now based in Sydney. Great example of a timber-composite race boat, initially with a manual canting keel. Orbit showed plenty of promise in a number of inshore and coastal races before heading overseas, including being part of a Shaw-boat handicap trifecta in the Coastal Classic
