Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori ☄️

Matariki signifies the New Year and the rising of the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. A time for remembrance and honouring those we have lost since the last rising of Matariki, giving thanks for what and who we currently have, and looking forward to the opportunities of the new year.

On the journey to Milford Sound you might be lucky enough to meet one of the cleverest creatures in New Zealand - the Kea! This bird is said to have the intelligence of a 6 year old, and is regularly able to complete or solve complex tasks.

They use their power for evil rather than good however and they can regularly be seen stripping rubber off rental cars, picking apart tents, and stealing items they find interesting! 😈
