Last week I spent a few days in Queenstown with clients from Australia looking at bringing a large school group here next year. It’s so good to see a destination through visitors eyes.

It truly is a special part of our country. The weather was stunning - beautiful skies and a crisp cool temperature.

It’s a little quiet down there at the moment but I hope they have a good winter season which will bring a few more visitors.

We stayed at the Mercure Queenstown and I loved the wee welcome amenity in my room when I checked in 🥰

Big Pineapple’s Return

Holidaying in the Sunshine Coast is a little sweeter once again - the Big Pineapple is back!

The Sunshine Coast landmark has been undergoing a renovation, and now has a new café, new children’s playground, new viewing platform and fully restored train.

Speaking on the return of the food and tourism icon, which was once visited by Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Visit Sunshine Coast ceo Matt Stoeckel says Australians are endeared to the Big Pineapple, and they are thrilled that it is operating as a tourism attraction once again. “It also emphasises our history as an agri-tourism destination and highlights that we truly are Queensland’s Sunshine Pantry.”

Owner Peter Kendall says the Big Pineapple is undoubtedly the most recognisable tourism icon of the Sunshine Coast, and he’s very proud of the team’s work to restore
the pineapple to its original glory. His team will now focus on completing the renovations to the inside of the pineapple structure itself, which Kendall hopes
to reopen for tours later on.

Upcycling for good. I love this!

A cabin refresh of 191 aircraft in the Emirates fleet has yielded more
than 50,000kgs of material, which will be repurposed into thousands of children’s backpacks to be donated to charitable entities, schools, orphanages, and foundations, across Africa and Asia, says the carrier.

The wool and nylon flat weave composite is durable and non-flammable and Emirates' engineering workshop’s team of tailors, who usually hand-repair tears to seating, hand-stitched the bags for World Environment Day.

Emirates previously upcycled furnishings into its limited-edition capsule luggage collection, Aircrafted, which raised more than 70,000 AED (around NZD30,000) for humanitarian projects around the world.

We had a great update from Holland America Cruise Lines this morning. They are in their 151st year of cruising, and they sure know what they’re doing and how to look after their guests!

I’m in Auckland for a couple of days and staying at the lovely Pullman Auckland. My room is a great size with everything I need, they have a yummy breakfast buffet, comfy bar for an afternoon wine and amazing train made from chocolate in the lobby area. A great option to stay while in the City of Sails.

Steph's Samoa update. It's been busy and hot the last few days.

Late last week she did hotel inspections of a few properties, and Saletoga Sands would be her pick for families and Seabreeze for adults only.

Saletoga Sands was a lovely property and caters well for families. They have a good range of rooms from basic hotel rooms to beachfront villas and then they also have an adults only area. There is a great kids club so the kids are entertained. The swim up pool bar was great which lots of adults were enjoying!

If you want to splash out and have an adults only get away, Seabreeze was gorgeous! It’s a small resort, only 13 rooms. The staff and food was amazing! Stunning views out over the lagoon too.
