Aside from the breathtaking scenery on the Paparoa Track, the huts on the track are a welcoming destination to arrive at. This is what Jo Bassett mentioned about the DOC huts on the track:

"All three DOC huts were better equipped than your average DOC Great Walk hut (exception Humpridge) with kettles and pots. The wardens in Ces Clarke and Moonlight were Coasters and friendly. The scenery from eerie forest to open tussock ridges provides variety.I hope everyone fit and able gets to enjoy this wonderful part of NZ."

Our client Jo Bassett declares the Paparoa Track as her new favourite. Here is one of the reason….

The Paparoa range is stunningly beautiful with the early morning mist hanging around the mountains burning off to beautiful blue cloudless days (we had four fab days so were very lucky ). The trail is well formed and has rails on the narrow steep parts for both bikers and hikers safety.

When riding or walking the Paparoas don’t forget the Pike29. It is a tribute to the 29 miners who tragically lost their lives in the 2010 Pike River Mine disaster.

The memorial shelter pictured in the photo is located on the corner of Atarua and Loburn Road, on the way to the Track.

Riding with friends in awesome places looks like this! Also, friends need snacks, must capture each other mid-bite when the view is epic, and, of course bring treats for the ride’s grand finale. For more advice ask Lynnette when making your shuttle booking. She knows Dave who was on the ride.

Nothing screams ‘more fun’ like changing tyres on top of a mountain just because the views are that good—said absolutely no one ever.

Check your repair kits and pack at least two spare tubes when riding the Paparoas. Unless you’re into hiking... in which case, you're all set.

to a weekend packed with sunshine and pure legend status! Our champs Lynnette and Sarah tackled the Coast 2 Coast alongside West Coast Wilderness Shuttles’ superstar kayaker, Clare. Apparently, Lynnette’s 'retired' now (haha), Sarah was ready for another lap immediately (whaaat?), and Clare is still wondering if she really wants to tackle her 6th race (why not Clare?)

If you spot them on the shuttle or at the depot, give them a high five because they deserve all the celebration (we can't do it enough)! Here’s how the weekend went down.

Jocelyn, Ben and Meridith off for a day ride over the Paparoas.

Jocelyn placed 2nd in the Veteran Womans Longest day on the kathmandu Coast 2 Coast and did this wee ride as a warm down.

Our Story

Paparoa Shuttles is built on many years of adventure tourism. Since 1992 we have been providing outstanding professional cycle and walking experiences in both a fully guided and self guided structure. Over the years we have refined our knowledge and sharpened our logistics skills. As technology has evolved, we have used what works and what provides meaningful support to our processes.

Through hard won experience, we know how to handle things when that unplanned weather system moves in and disrupts travel plans. Handling the outcomes of injuries or damage to equipment well, can make all the difference to planned itineraries.

From operating fully guided trips around New Zealand and overseas, we have developed those skills on the Alps 2 Ocean and West Coast Wilderness Trail. Extending our cover to the exciting Paparoa Track has bought us in contact with some great new friends. These providers have their own vision and are working on bringing their own awesome magic to the packages we have been able to develop for you. Our services are built on developing great partnerships and we have enjoyed getting to meet other visionaries who are currently building rooms and services to make your trip a delight.

Behind Paparoa Shuttles, lies a wealth of experience and customer service that is hard to match. Our vehicle fleet has been developed to meet a range of needs and group sizes.
