At the end of every summer season we join our friends at the Blackball Co-op to reflect on the year and look forward to the next.
These folks are the Blackball locals who look after relocating your vehicles while you are enjoying the Paparoa Track.
They are fantastic partners - solving all kinds of logistical snarl ups, flat batteries, empty fuel tanks and flat tires with apparent ease and aplomb.

Put a Croquet mallet in their hands though and all hell breaks loose! The kind folks at Makura Croquet Club in Greymouth were incredibly patient with us while we giggled and wiggled our way around their beautifully manicured lawn.
Turns out that Croquet is an excellent pastime - physically inclusive (anyone can be a Croquet master) and with plenty of opportunity for banter and the inevitable mind games!

Our thanks again to the Blackball Coop team - vehicle and croquet masters!

Pike 29 Memorial Track is now open and Greg from our Christchurch office and Lynnette from our Greymouth depot could not wait and cycled it on Thursday.

Best day in the office ever!
The uphill is... on and on and then you get to the top and it is awesome and then the downhill on Pike 29 is lovely. The surface is great, the views and bush amazing.

🎤 Greg
This is a fantastic ride you would love it. The uphill is unrelenting but it is so worth the reward. It's cool. The trail surface is great and they have done so much work on the Paparoa since I last rode it. The Pike 29 Memorial Track has a couple of pinches and then it took us about 35mins to zoom down.

The Pike 29 Memorial Track is opening on 17th February 2024. The 11.6km dual mountain biking and walking track will connect the Paparoa Track to the Pike River Valley.

Built to honour the memory of the miners lost in the Pike River Mine disaster, the track rises 880m from the Pike River Valley floor and is a challenging ride or walk.

We will be supporting riders with their vehicle relocation from the Pike29 Car Park.

The Pike29 Memorial Track is opening on 17 February 2024. The 11.6km dual mountain biking and walking track will connect the Paparoa Track Great Walk to the Pike River valley.

The Pike 29 Memorial Track is opening on 17th February 2024. The 11.6km dual mountain biking and walking track will connect the Paparoa Track to the Pike River Valley.

While catching a shuttle to the Paparoa Track or ringing our office to make a booking, you may have had Sarah Ellington supporting you with your booking.

This humble, young lady is an absolute legend in the paraplegic cycling scene and was recently honoured with the West Coast Sports Woman of the Year 2022. On the way she won a number of awards including 2nd in C2 women’s Road Race Oceania Championship and 4th in the recent World Champs in Paris. Here she is pictured with rally champ Emma Gilmore during the awards night.

A big congratulations Sarah! We couldn’t be prouder and are extremely happy for you.

Here is a story by our Hoki depot manager Dave!

Earlier in the year he was track guide for his mate Quentin, who is paraplegic and has (had) a beast of an electric mountain hand trike.

We let you to read the story by yourself. But if you know our team, you probably already know what's comin'!!!!

There are no boundaries for paraplegic cyclist Quentin who has almost completed the Paparoa Trail in his mountain hand trike. Our Hoki depot manager Dave was there too and reviewed the day on the trail for us!

In the spirit of International Women's Day, please meet Lynette and Sarah! These two ladies get you on the Paparoa Track so you can have an absolute blast.

Although she is a no shrinking violet, Lynnette does blush a bit when we mention that she is a reigning Coast to Coast Champion. Popping across the Paparoa Great Walk as a training run is something she does for fun. Lynnette's role as controller of all things Paparoa has forced her to master the art of the spreadsheet and she now controls operations with a click and a “CNTRL X”

Did we mention that she is also a former New Zealand Olympic Games Representative? We won’t mention the year - but it was in Los Angeles (oops!) and the 400m hurdles was the event.

Not content to have just one Olympic athlete in our stable of great people, we thought we should go for gold and invite another one. Meet Sarah Ellington, our representative at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics! The individual time trial is Sarah’s happy place - something that none of the rest of us can actually grasp!

Sarah is a recent import to the Coast but has slotted right in to the culture and regularly smashes the big guns at the Hokitika Cycling Club Tuesday Night Worlds - 16km of gut busting effort, not for the faint of heart.
