This is the beautiful Pouakai Crossing track on Mt. Taranaki, absolutely unbeatable on days like this! The boardwalk takes us over the precious Ahukawakawa wetland at 920m above sea level.

On Day 2 of the 4-day Coromandel Explorer guided hiking tour we head up to the very northern tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to hike the Coromandel Coastal Walkway. We get excellent scenic views from this coastal trail and the big blue Pacific never disappoints!

We’re hosting another fun, adventurous group on the 4-day Coromandel Explorer guided walk this week and ooof what a week it’s been. She’s been a warm one, we feel like we’ve got a head start on summer adventures!

We start the Coromandel Explorer with a trip up Wairere Falls on Day 1. This is the North Islands tallest waterfall!

Kiwi tracks in the snow on Mt. Taranaki! Just knowing they’re there makes the outdoor experience just that little bit sweeter.

We came across these on the Pouakai Crossing track with a guided hiking tour group. After checking with the Holly Hut DOC warden the debate was settled!

There are so many walkers who haven’t yet visited Taranaki and to them we say, get down here! This is a walking and hiking paradise! The forest is spectacular and the people are so genuine and welcoming.

Off we go, up Razorback and onto the Holly Hut Track that you can see crossing the ridge there on the right.

This is the Pouakai Crossing, an excellent 19km day-walk on the shoulders of mighty Taranaki mounga (mountain). We’ll walk this track, and many others, during the 4-day Taranaki Discovery Tour guided hiking tour.

This week we begin the New Zealand summer hiking season in the Tongariro National Park with our first 4-day Tongariro Hiking Tour guided group.

Our guides watch the weather really carefully in the lead-up to the trip so that we can tackle the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in the best conditions. That’s the beauty of choosing a multi-day option, we have the flexibility to adjust around the weather.

We were so lucky to host this awesome group of hikers on the Coromandel Explorer guided hiking tour recently. What a beautiful bunch of folks to spend 4 days with on an active holiday in a gorgeous part of New Zealand.
