Last week, we shared the news that Tauranga’s new Waterfront Playground has entered the construction stage. With it all systems go on site, we thought we’d give you a sneak peak of what this play space will look like when it’s finished. Like they do
Last week, we shared the news that Tauranga’s new Waterfront Playground has entered the construction stage. With it all systems go on site, we thought we’d give you a sneak peak of what this play space will look like when it’s finished.
Like they do for every project we work on, our clever and creative design team produced 3D concept drawings so our clients - the Tauranga City Council and the community, could visualise the different elements of the play space during the design and consultation phase.
Destined to be a truly special place and a memorable play experience, Maori culture has been woven into the look and feel of the playground, including the 8-metre-tall waka tower structure.
There will be a variety of ways to access the waka tower - from the elevated pathway with connecting bridges to ropes to climb up and into the tower for kids that love a bit more adventure. From the tower, kids will be able to enjoy the stunning view of the moana, where they can try and spot the local marine life. And when they do, they will be able to use the ‘talking tubes’ to tell their friends and families on the ground what they see!
There's also a nature play zone and a water play zone to provide a sensory play experience that will be enjoyed by children of all ages and abilities, and their parents and caregivers.
