This is something which has happened a few times in the building industry and we've heard of it happening to businesses in other industries.

Always check the account if it's the first time you've paid someone. If, as in this case, it's a different bank account to one you've previously paid on, then call them to confirm - on the number you have for them or their website, not using the phone number on the email.
