Coromandel reopens - take the scenic route

Further evidence of the Coromandel reopening is the restoring of access for all vehicles now being able to drive the entire length of State Highway 25.

Cars and trucks can now access all areas of state highway 25 with only SH25A remaining closed due to the major collapse of a section of the Kopu Hikuai highway. State highway 25 has now been described by locals as the scenic route and takes road users along the beautiful Thames Coast Road on the western side and via Whangamata, Tairua and Whitianga on the Eastern Coast.

It’s hard to believe we are in early February - Hahei should be PUMPING! It’s lovely to have lots of safe, low traffic space to ride our bikes but this…? Now…? What happened to summer?! 🤔😳🫣 Stay safe everyone!

We've updated our map to clearly show that you can travel to and around The Coromandel and get to the places you plan to visit via scenic coastal routes and through the gorge. SH25a is closed, and the Tapu-Coroglen road is impassable 10km past Rapaura but Riverglen is still accessible form the Coroglen end. Had a great time exploring our local side roads this morning! Met some friendly neighbours and picked up some fresh produce …. And had loads of fun on the way! 🚴 18kms cycled using the Eco and Tour functions and came back with a full battery 😎👍

We are so lucky to have the beautiful Stella Evered Memorial Park Reserve right on our doorstep! Just a short 20 minute ride up a quiet country road on one of our brand new trail bikes brings you to this gorgeous piece of paradise with access to stunning farmland, Cooks Beach and Purangi Reserve. Don’t let the stairs deter you - I pushed the bike down those and there is a much
gentler alternative access via a gravel road! 🚲😎👍
