Standing knee deep in the mud, the farmer exclaimed "Tired!! everyday here I'm farming rice, English, a little bit". We (tourists taking part in mass tourism) have made a farmer's life very difficult, it's not worth it to remain a farmer anymore, with the inflated land prices and rates of mediocre tourist services per day, it's becoming more lucrative to sell, but the cost is our farm land, our healthy locally-grown food and our future, the reality is; we can't eat concrete after we run out of agriculture land...
Maybe there is a way out!! every day we walk into the houses of our local hosts and communities as strangers, and walk out as family, maybe we can call out the issues with mass tourism and ask visitors to be a little bit more conscious with their choices; not to pick imported products but to look for authentically crafted local produce, not to ask for the same food they have back home, but try the home-cooked local cuisine even if it doesn't meet our taste. The time is running out, and our mother nature the way we know it may not make it, we may not make it - for we forget that We Are Nature, the machine of gentrification is bulldozing everything that it meets under the name of business opportunities.
We need to remind ourselves that next time we leave our homes and take a plane, not to look for the international brands we are used to, because today the locals grow and produce coffee, chocolate, hospitality brands, and world-class meals, to remember not to spend our money on things that take from nature and never give back, and instead to look for a local community to support, a nature-centered program to take part in, and a value added from our travel instead of a value taken by it...

The mountains in Bali represent the source of the indigenous energy, the largest temples, the path of the high spirits through which they visit earth, and one of the guardians of the humans throughout their lifetime. Every time we get the chance to hike up one of them we feel touched by the sacredness of these great earthly structures.
This year was a special hiking year for our tribe in Bali, whereby with a group of fit Ridgers we managed to summit 3 out of Bali's highest peaks, and we never have enough and shall come back for more next year...

We end up failing to recognize the ending of ourselves from the beginning of others, we melt in oneness, forgetting our backgrounds and origins to emerge as human-dressed souls seeking their own purity and light
The mystical journey through East Java following the footsteps of the Rsi, was a treat that left its finger print deep on our path, between being hosted by a priest, to serene temples hidden at the heart of nature, dragon fruit farms, and being guided to magical waterfalls, another local authentic blessing that will be remembered...

A tribute to Waterfalls Wednesdays
We often forget that the very fabric of our own making is nature, since the elements that make up our bodies, where our souls reside, are the very same of this blue sphere on which we are shooting through space, so it's actually more of a necessity than it being a choice to put aside time out of our demanding schedules to connect with our surroundings and our inner true nature.
We have made it a point to remember where we come from and connect to this beautiful force every Wednesday in what we call Special and Waterfalls Wednesdays, a weekly connection with Nature in the form of waterfalls, rivers, mountains, local authentic culture, and beautiful heart-led tribe, on a journey towards our highest selves...

As we attempt to summit these earthly humbling structures we call mountains, we are simultaneously getting to know angles of ourselves that we are not regularly exposed to during our daily lives, it breaks the barriers we might hold around ourselves, and creates an environment for us to grow, flourish and accept one another.
Rinjani taught us that when you have a group of determined people who lead by the heart and experience the present moment, you are able to unearth a level of magic that we as humans hardly tap into. Thanks to the crew for showing up.

Old yet still good
That's how Cindy's father described his car as he was cleaning it and replacing its pushing, a red pick up model 1989, as it was about to take us on our last day’s adventure, for that's how our days in Tana Toraja were spent, daily ventures into the unknown, from local communities' funeral rites, to caves and trees burial sites, and an excursion to remote mountains on unpaved off-roads; an ambiguous journey the Torajas believe will be eventually taken by every human to the southern realm of Puya, the other side, and what makes this bumpy journey easier and quicker is the way the community celebrates the person’s passing, 24 bulls is the lowest number of sacrifices for one’s boat to be accompanied smoothly to the realm of the dead, and with that same faith and trust, we happily journeyed along with them…
