I'd like to share a little bit of the fruits we have in Panama that might not be as common in your country. I'd like to introduce a fruit we call Tomato de Arbol. In English, The name is tree tomato for Tamarillo The plant, which can grow over six meters tall, belongs to the nightshade family, like the tomato. The egg-shaped shape and size of the fruit are also similar to the tomato, as is the red or yellow color. The taste, however, is hardly comparable. A fully ripe tamarillo is more reminiscent of plums in terms of taste and the texture of the flesh. Inside the fruit, the edible seeds are in a sweet, jelly-like mass; towards the outside, the flesh becomes firmer and less sweet. The skin is also edible but has a slightly bitter taste. A ripe tamarillo is characterized by a light to intense red color. The skin of the fruit should give slightly when pressed. If the tomatillo is dark red and soft, it has already reached its optimal level of ripeness and should be eaten immediately. Ripe fruit can be stored in the refrigerator for about a week, while dark yellow to light red tamarillos can be kept in the fridge for up to two weeks. The riper the fruit, the sweeter the taste, and its high vitamin C content could easily compete with many citrus fruits. The tree tomato also has plenty of vitamin A, calcium, potassium, iron, and phosphorus. The quickest and easiest way to enjoy it is to halve the Tamarillo and eat it with a spoon like a kiwi. Otherwise, you can prepare sweet or salty fruit, create exotic drinks, and even conjure chutneys and dips from Tamarillo. Tip: The bitter peel can be easily removed by pouring boiling water over the Tamarillo.
Maybe you'd like to try it once
I love to eat meat, and I often use Tamarillo on top
Peel the tamarillos (a vegetable peeler is handy), cut out the flower stalk in a cone shape, and cut into 1 cm thick slices.
Cut lime into 4 slices, squeeze the juice out of the ends, and collect it.
Fry the meat in hot oil. Remove from the pan and keep warm.
Briefly fry the lime slices and the tamarillos in the frying fat, caramelize them with sugar, and place them on the meat. Voila, delicious, simple, mouthwatering.

Holiday season is coming up and it is never too early to think about presents. This year maybe don't pack them in paper that will be thrown away afterwards but pack them in material, cut it in sizes that can be used afterwards as maybe packing another present or making a pillow case. To close the package maybe you look in the Internet there are so many beautiful tips and and the ancient Japanese Furoshiki technique is just one of them.bgh A little way to help mother earth.

Our Gold is Green
At our travel agency, we take pride in offering experiences that not only allow you to explore the world but also respect and preserve the environment you visit. We believe that tourism can be a force for good, and we are committed to a sustainable approach. This means we strive to select hotels that practice sustainability, work with local communities to ensure that benefits reach everyone, and promote responsible travel practices.
Here are some tips to pack and prepare for your trips in a way that supports our sustainable travel initiative:
● Instead of using disposable products, bring reusable items like a water bottle and food utensils. This helps reduce plastic waste and other garbage that can negatively impact the environment.
● Choose personal hygiene products that are eco-friendly and come in recyclable or compostable packaging. Options such as solid shampoos, biodegradable soaps, and creams without plastic packaging are excellent alternatives.
● At your destination, opt to support local businesses and restaurants that practice sustainability and reinvest in the community. By doing so, you help ensure that the benefits of tourism go directly to those who live in the area, fostering more equitable economic development.
Recently, the country has been developing various projects and programs aimed at advancing towards a more sustainable system. In the recent elections, the City of Panama elected a mayor committed to environmental impact responsibility. Mizrachi has shown a strong commitment to self-sustainability and has launched a series of innovative measures to tackle the city's environmental challenges. The mayor has also supported the installation of additional recycling points in key areas and the education of the public on proper waste sorting.
Also, Mizrachi’s administration has placed significant emphasis on creating and maintaining green spaces in the city. Urban reforestation projects have been launched to increase vegetation cover and improve air quality. New parks and recreational areas are being developed with sustainable gardening practices and biodiversity conservation in mind.
The country has launched several educational campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. Panama is home to numerous national parks and nature reserves that offer unique opportunities for ecotourism. Activities such as hiking, birdwatching, and nature tourism in protected areas help promote conservation and educate visitors about the importance of preserving these ecosystems. Additionally, sustainable agriculture is gaining ground in Panama, with practices that include organic farming, agroforestry, and the use of traditional techniques to preserve soil health. These methods not only help reduce the environmental impact of food production but also support food security and economic development in rural communities.
Panama is making significant progress in adopting sustainable practices and reducing waste. By choosing to travel to Panama and participate in these sustainable activities, you are not only enjoying an incredible destination but also contributing to a greener and more responsible future. We invite our travelers to support these initiatives and be part of the positive change. Every action counts, and together we can make a significant difference in preserving the planet for future generations.

Shana Travel Sustainability Policy
Sustainability
Shana Travel is doing everything possible to providing a great experience iterms of the environment and culture. Our Travelers we want to give unforgettable memories while traveling with us and collecting wow moments
Our Point of View
Our travelers are getting before and during their vacation all information we can give about the country culture and nature they be exploring during the visit to Panama.
We try our level best to ensure that all locally operated companies gain benefits from our tours, and so we arrange for accommodation in local restaurants, eat local food, appoint local people to serve as tour guides.
We preserve the environment by trying to reduce harmful emission. This we achieve by recycling and reusing whatever we can while ensuring that wild life and natural habitat is not affected by our actions.
Below, we gave a bit an idea of all the practices which we are committed to do. It is a work in progress always improving and getting more focused, we welcome any feedback which you can provide us.
Economic Responsibilities
• We try only to use those products, suppliers and services that are offered by local companies because we believe it to be an extremely ethical action. Even if it may mean paying additional prices, we do not have issues with it because we are benefiting the local economy.
• We employ Panamanians or official Residents (with work permit).
• We support rural tourism , historical and Indigenous culture tour
• We tell our Travelers where to buy local made souvenirs and presents.
• We pay our staff salaries that are significantly higher than the market average. As we’ll be pay their part of social security.
• Every Employee has once a month a paid me day, to refill the mental energy.
Environmental Responsibilities
Along with economic responsibility, we also focus on environmental responsibilities. We support and preserve the natural environment and habitat. Moreover, our guides are educated individuals who can speak multiple languages. and provide information on all national and regional issues.
Almost every region in the world is facing issues like water shortage, landfill and environmental degradation. Even though we can leave it to the government to solve these issues, we play our part and do the little bits that can help in the bigger picture when combined.
• We use cleaning substances like soap and detergent that are biodegradable and we expect our … to use the same. They may be costly, but throughout the tours, we usually use river water that is still very clean and unpolluted. We want this to stay the same.
• We ensure transportation means we use suitable ones for the region and to our travelers’ needs as well. We regularly inspect and conduct maintenance of these vehicles so they perform at full efficiency, thereby limiting the formation of carbon emissions while ensuring our clients’ safety and comfort.
• We consider animal welfare important and we do not support people who do not abide. We only offer horse riding tours on fincas we personal inspect every year to guarantee the well been of the horses. (By now we know the horses by name still not the other way around.)
• Cleanliness is our most important attribute. We do not litter anywhere and properly dispose of waste in suitable places. Our guides always carry a garbage bag on them and plastic gloves to pick up garbage if they see anything.
• We advise our clients to always carry a small garbage bags as well.
• Dispose of batteries in the cities and not in any remote location.
• Do not waste resources like water and electricity. You can contribute by switching off lights and equipment not being used.
• Do not harm or disturb vegetation.

Shana Travel is dedicated to promoting responsible tourism. We have integrated social responsibilities in the core of our business so that we can provide humanity with more benefits while working to preserve the environment.
Employees
While hiring our employees, we respect diversity. Fair payment rules, participative management, work safety, personal development and good working conditions are what we believe in. We aim at extending and sharing our social responsibility with our employees and travelers.
We hire those industry experts that belong to local regions and have spent several years in the field. We believe that our continuous success is just because we support the local communities who welcome us. We are committed to supporting their businesses, allowing these operators to prosper. This increases their confidence and leads to development of their services and products.
Whenever we design a new tour, we consult and seek advice from several local communities to ascertain that we are drafting realistic proposals. While selecting these companies, we only take help from those companies who have a positive outlook and plan on working long term. We are always very honest about how our products can affect the local communities and ensure that we do not force them where they are not wanted.
Ever since our inception, we have always relied on local companies, representatives and guides. Almost all of our hired experts are sourced locally so as to ensure knowledgeable and motivated employees, complete guidance provided to our clients and promotion of local traditions.
We are closely linked with local agencies which allow us to contribute to the local economy. Moreover, it lets our Travelers gain a deeper insight into the culture and local traditions which are followed in these areas, There are certain tours on which advice from these guides in indeed invaluable such as the Darien or the camino de los cruses.
Local Food and Restaurants
On all our tours, we encourage our clients to consume food offered by local Restaurants instead of dining at multinational brands which they can do so at their own homes as well. Not only does this provide the clients with an authentic experience of the traditional cuisine, but also supports these local communities and help them in following their customs in terms of cooking and recipes. This ensures culture longevity which is an asset in areas where these rituals are in the danger of being lost.
There are some Adventure Tours on which we provide our clients with food. We purchase fresh, tasty and quality items from the reputed local markets in areas where it is possible. Our commitment of providing them with support ensures that these companies keep on prospering and developing themselves. We as well offer local cooking classes.
The Community
We believe in promoting participation of all local communities that exist in areas where we operate. For this, we sign off contracts with the best drivers, guides and experts.
We treat all people respectfully and carefully observe traditions which they practice. We encourage all our clients to do the same and provide them with details about the national culture. We gave them complete knowledge regarding the traditions and customs. When we use local guides who help our clients, it ensures that at least some of the local communities do gain benefit from our business.
Office Space and Work hours
Shana travel has one office for briefings. As we give work possibilities to mothers with children, our employees work from home. The needed tools like computer etc. are given by the company. Once a day the Team meets or if one Team member is wanting a meeting.
Welcome meetings with Travelers are mostly done in local Restaurants. Work hours are flexible, and the employee is self-responsible about the time, as so long as the work gets done. Emergency phone is rotated.
Staff Education
We give our new staff members a complete briefing of our Responsible Travel Policy, and provide them with a documented version as well. We give our employees complete awareness about recycling and request them to recycle cardboard, waste paper, plastics and cans. We remind our staff again and again to switch off lights and appliances not in use.
Paper
We have aimed at recycling 100% of all the paper and cardboard material which we use. We store most of our data thorough electronic means but because of electricity conditions we as well have an handwritten agenda Travelers information we always send digital.

Read from the Screen If we have to photocopy, we do it on both paper sides.. We buy toilet paper and other materials that are made through renewable energy resources from recycled materials.
Electricity and Technology
We use only those computers, photocopiers, desk phones, fax machines and printers that make efficient use of electricity. The same goes for other appliances like kettle, fridge and microwaves.
If we have to replace our equipment, we sell them off to be reused or send them for recycling. They are not sent to the landfill.
We switch off all appliances every night in order to save electricity.
We use energy efficient lighting systems and request our staff to turn off the lights if there is ample sunlight in the room.

Hola Bocas town talking,
yes, I heard you are talking about how in construction I am right now, and sorry to say I feel a bit hurt about the negativity. I'm getting a facelift and really, I deserve it and in the meantime I'm still very attractive you just have to look a little bit. Do not forget only me. The town is getting a facelift. The archipelago will never need one. You just take the boat or the bicycle, and soon, you'll be at mesmerizing beaches and deep green jungle, where you can build sandcastles.
let's go back to me. It's a town to find my beauty right now. It's more an inner beauty. Step into the many little cafes and visit the side street where you still find originally Caribbean architecture. But most important, talk to the people of my village we love to chat, and like this, you get to know a little bit more about our culture.
Just do not complain about every city needing a facelift once in a while.😀
From Bocas, with love💙🩵
before I forget, here are some places you might want to discover.while in town.

The people will vote on December 17, 2023

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, spoke to the nation for the third time on national radio and television, in the midst of the wave of protests that the country is experiencing, and announced that he has requested the Electoral Court to call a popular consultation on Sunday, December 17, 2023, "so that Panamanians can decide with the power of the vote whether or not Law 406 of the mining contract is repealed."

Where all over the country, the unions called for street closure

Why you know Panama doesn't have so many streets, and the most important one is the Panamericana if you close this street, you can block the country. For instance, in the city, there's a shortage of fruit and vegetables in a short time, and the inner country is shortish on gasoline, gas, etc.

Reason The President and the government voted overwhelmingly in favor of the law, say the deal will guarantee jobs and economic prosperity while improving its international image by welcoming large private investments. This law authorizes a highly contested mining contract with a Canadian company called First Quantum Minerals
But the demonstration is because the contract impedes state sovereignty and poses severe environmental risks—deforestation, pollution, ecocide, undue political influence, control of airspace, and appropriation of resources.

Does one have to be scared? No protests in Panama are always peaceful; there are a few exceptions like it can, like in every country, you cannot control everybody. You can often walk through the demonstration in the daytime, and there is no problem.

Important for our clients, we see the situation daily, and we'll inform you right away when we think a program is impossible. If you have any questions, as the situation is changing constantly, it is best to contact us directly. Most importantly, do not panic it does not change the situation.
