Reserva Ecológica Privada Cerro Hoya Panamá

Reserva Ecológica Privada Cerro Hoya Panamá “La Puerca” is a privately owned 70 hectares natural reserve inside of the Cerro Hoya National Park. La Puerca was named in the late 40s by the first owner.

Utilized as grazing fields before the creation of the National Park, we are now in the process of reforesting these 70 hectares. Situated on the coast, La Puerca has 3 beaches separated by rocky points and cliffs. When the National Park was established in 1984, a small fraction of the land inside the park was being worked by farmers and ranchers. The Panamanian government decided to award land ti

tles to these farms with the right to live and work the land. Today, there are about 18 privately owned ranches around the edges of the park. On his first day at the site, he went to the creek and saw a group of wild boars. He named the creek La Puerca and the ranch soon followed suit. Since then, the ranch was used for grazing until 2006. In that year, the true value of the land was recognized and all agricultural uses were stopped. Conservation plans have been initiated to reforest the grazing fields and conserve the incredible coastal watershed. Today, the unique situation provides unparalleled access to one of Panama’s great pristine natural treasures; The coastal Mountain Forests of Cerro Hoya. One of the best things about La Puerca is the exclusiveness and remoteness of the property. . We limit ourselves to only having one party of up to four guests at a time. Basically while you are at La Puerca Nature Reserve you have your own private cook, tour guide, and butler. A boat for deepseafishing, snorkerling or just sightseeing around the coast is anchored offshore available 24/7 for our guests. 4 horses (one for each of the guests) are also available for leisurly horseback rides or hardcore long distance rides into the wilderness of Cerro Hoya. A small cabin is being built on La Puerca Beach to accommodate our guests, until then you can set up tents under a huge bohio on the beach. You have full access to everything at La Puerca. It is your piece of paradise. You can go from beach to beach and waterfall to waterfall without seeing another soul. Imagine your own private Eden. Exotic birds, mammals, plants and marine life can be found on more than 70 hectares of private titled land. You will see no one else but the other party guests and your guide, who will gladly leave if requested. Activities such as surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, bird watching and fishing can be done or simply take a large inflatable bed with a bottle of wine and lay in a lazy pool under a waterfall. You set the pace.
