The legend tells a story of love and heartbreak, in the colonial period.
Its said that there was a tribe that lived in the mountains of Panama and they fought fiercely against the spanish Spanish conquers, the chief of the tribe Urracá was the most brave man of his tribe, and he had a daughter, a princess called “Flor del Aire” , she inoncently fell in love with one of the spanish men,and by doing so she rejected the most valuable young men of her tribe, Yarabi, who in his despair of being unloved decide to jump from the tallest side of a mountain, in front of Flor del Aire´s eyes. She decide not to betray her tribe by persuing this love for the spanish conqueror and ran away from the mountains that saw her grown, to walk and wonder near to the caribbean and finally perish near the ocean. The legend also tells that the mountain Gods felt sympathized by what she had to live and decide to copy her figure and turn it into a mountain, as its call “LA INDIA DORMIDA”, the first and most beautiful mountain you can see as soon as you enter EL VALLE DE ANTÓN.
