Andean Cosmic Embrace

In the highlands of the Andes' mighty spine,
A people weaves a tapestry divine,
With threads of starlight, moon's gentle beam,
And the cosmos' whispers, an ancient dream.
Their hearts beat in rhythm with the night,
As constellations paint the celestial light,
Orion's belt guides the farmer's hand,
To plant and harvest, in the promised land.
The wind whispers secrets, of the universe's birth,
In the silence, the Andean soul finds its worth,
In the darkness shines the light of the Pleiades,
A bridge between worlds, where spirits parade.
The Apus, sacred mountains high,
Guardians of wisdom, touching the open sky,
The Quipu's knots, a cosmic code divine,
Unraveling mysteries, of space and time.
With each breath, the Andean connects,
To the pulsing heartbeat, of the universe's affects,
In the stars above, a reflection sees,
Of the divine within, the cosmos' symphony.

The sky above the Andes, filled with millions of stars, tells tales from ancient times. Long ago, men and women could read the movements of the stars on dark nights, predicting humanity's future. Today, that same sky watches over us, but our eyes are completely closed to the wonders of the universe above.

We started this incredible expedition on August 3rd with my friend from the Czech Republic. We had four days for this journey. Our only information about the route came from maps and locals who warned us that it was very, very challenging. Armed with this information, we set off to cross a small part of the immense Andes mountain range, where we enjoyed all its natural beauty, including glaciers and beautiful lagoons above 5000 meters above sea level.

Two out of the four days were the toughest; we covered 10 to 12 kilometers each day at around 5300 meters above sea level, feeling the altitude in our lungs as we searched for the path to our destination.

We walked across a glacier with a strong wind hitting our faces, as if trying to stop us.

Finally, we reached our destination, our campsite, where our team awaited us with hot drinks. We then rested for the remainder of the day. Ahh, the nights were very cold, but the sky was wonderful with millions of stars above us.
