“One of my favourite spots is Llaqtapata ruins. It is just 3 hours into the 4 day hike and our first night camp site. It’s a perfect place to acclimatize to elevation. It’s a moderate hike that covers 42km (26 miles). Marco helped us achieve it with his words of encouragement and support.”- From Heidi, one of our wonderful clients. We are so appreciative of everyone who joins us on these treks. @ Cusco, Peru

Peruvian textiles are striking and awe inspiring.
During the Inca Empire, fabrics finely woven and feather adorned cloaks signified social status.

Inca textiles were integral to their political, social, and ritual lives. Just looking at these masterpieces, it’s no wonder the allure of Andean weaving has lasted through the centuries.

Designs and skills have been handed down from generation to generation.

Each village has its own patterns, unique weaving techniques, and styles of clothing which indicate indigenous identity and the wearer’s community.

We chose Quilla as our name because of Mama Quilla or Killa- - a goddess of the Inca religion. She is the moon goddess, Mother Moon. She has been a symbol of femininity, a defender of women, marriage. She is responsible for the passage of time and the Inca calendar depended on her. I’m Cusco, she had her own temple with priestesses devoted to her. Silver was thought to be made from her tears.

The Inca loved Mama Quilla and it is an honor to use her name to educate people more on our rich Peruvian culture. @ Cusco, Peru

Happy Hump Day! Llamas are a relative of camels and have been an important part of Andean culture for over 5,000 years when they were first domesticated. The Incas used them to carry goods, their wool was used for clothing and blankets, and they are even good pets! But watch out- they do spit when agitated!

One of the best parts about taking one of our adventure treks to Machu Picchu is the people you get to meet. Our tours are private, in small groups of 8. Beautiful, life-long friendships have begun on our tours. It’s a privilege to meet wonderful people from all over the world. Now that things are beginning to open up, we are looking forward to seeing dear friends again-both old and new!
