There are so many beautiful places and Incan remains surrounding the city of Cusco! This week while following an original Inca Canal through a canyon we discovered a wak’a (religious altar) which led us to this hidden waterfall paradise...we are so grateful and continue to be amazed by the beauty and spirituality of this country!

AndeanSol is pleased to announce our first food-focused travel experience in collaboration with h2o kitchen. This culinary exploration will take us through the three regions of Peru: the Pacific Coast, the Andes Mountains, and the Amazon Jungle. This trip will be not be like most culinary tours. Although we will dine in some amazing restaurants, we have created an itinerary that will provide a very unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the Peruvian people, including chefs, farmers, fishermen, coffee plantation owners, restaurant owners, and indigenous families.

Today the AndeanSol team is traveling to Puno for some research and development, and also to participate in the Fiesta de la Candelaria - the largest festival in all of Peru. More than 40,000 dancers and 9,000 musicians travel from around the country to pay homage to the Virgin de la Candelaria. This is a festival full of culture, dance and music which brings together the catholic faith and Andean religion. The Virgin represents fertility and purity, is the patron saint of the city and is strongly associated with ‘pachamama’ (‘mother earth’).
While in Puno we will continue to explore the best accommodations and unique experiences around Lake Titicaca to build into future guest itineraries. Stay tuned for pictures and videos these next few days - we are excited to share our experience with you!

The AndeanSol team and clients spent a nice morning biking in the Andes outside of Cusco on this beautiful, sunny day! The scenic ride took the group to the amazing archeological site - where our guests had a chance to enjoy the view of this Incan agricultural laboratory.

It’s easy to see why, for many, a visit to this Incan Citadel is the original motivation for their trip to Peru. Machu Picchu was declared a Peruvian Historic Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. In 2007, Machu Picchu was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. And it does not disappoint…it’s difficult to describe the feeling of being surrounded by the beauty, history, and spirituality of this grand ancient city. Humbling, breathtaking, astounding… It is an extreme pleasure to experience these emotions and share this special place with our guests.

The first AndeanSol group is enjoying their adventure so far....they started out in Lima last Wednesday, and over the past few days have experienced a private cooking class in an ocean view condo, two days touring and shopping in Cusco, a visit to the home of a family in a local community, and two exciting days of hiking at 1400’ in the Andes Mountains. It's an exciting week for us....our inaugural tour kicks off tomorrow with this wonderful group of eight friends who will begin their 15 day AndeanSol Adventure in Lima. We look forward to connecting with them in Cusco later this week for an action-packed itinerary filled with hiking, biking, kayaking, rock climbing, zip-lining, fantastic food, culture and camaraderie!
