It's believed that the Incas found these ancient constructions and, with the knowledge passed down by earlier civilizations—about whom we have only minimal evidence—ensured their preservation.

Some researchers even suggest possible connections to ancient civilizations like the Sumerians, adding a layer of mystery and wonder to these already awe-inspiring sites. Micaela Bastidas, una mujer de extraordinaria belleza, emergió en la pubertad con una mezcla única de rasgos andinos, afrodescendientes y españoles. Su presencia era imponente y su caminar, sinuoso y grácil, evocaba las ondulaciones de las acacias en las sabanas africanas. En su pueblo natal, Tamburco, la describían con admiración: sus ojos reflejaban la profundidad de los cerros, su rostro brillaba como la luna, y sus cabellos se comparaban con las tupidas madreselvas.

De carácter decidido y energía inusual, Micaela destacaba por su figura esbelta, labios de moras maduras y una sonrisa adornada por dientes blanquísimos. Su magnetismo no pasó desapercibido cuando, en una calle bulliciosa de Abancay, un joven arriero de 17 años, José Gabriel Condorcanqui, la vio por primera vez. Fascinado por su andar y su vibrante presencia, cayó rendido ante ella.

Era el año 1760, y José Gabriel, un joven bien educado, quedó tan impactado que describió su encuentro en una carta: "Te encontré como saliendo del paraíso, entre los frondosos patis y el canto de las tuyas, bajo los rayos de un sol que se desvanecía en arreboles. En ese instante, un prodigio se abrió a mis ojos."

José Gabriel, profundamente enamorado, llevó a Micaela a Cuzco, donde la convertiría en su esposa. Su unión no solo marcó el inicio de una relación amorosa, sino también el surgimiento de una poderosa alianza que trascendería en la historia del Perú.
