Marita is scientifically referred to as Pandanus conoideus is a plant in the Pandanus family. Its fruit is eaten in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. The fruit has several names: marita (in Papua New Guinea local language), or buah merah ("red fruit", in Indonesian).
Fruits of the pandanus family have specific characteristics that distinguish them from other fruits, including their very concentrated red color, indicating that the fruits are rich in beta carotene and being a powerhouse of antioxidants, omega 3 and 9 fatty acids, the red fruit augments the body’s resistance against pathogens and boosts the immune system.
The healing traits of Red fruit were discovered by biologist Dr Made Budi in the year 2000.
