MEDIA RELEASE

PNG REMOVES ALL COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS FOR AIR TRAVEL

Air Niugini wishes to advise our valued customers that PNG as of today(Thursday 06th October), has removed all Covid-19 restrictions associated with air travel.

This includes the requirement to wear a mask whilst inside airport terminals, or wear a mask on an aircraft.

It also removes the requirement that passengers travelling to PNG from overseas have to show evidence of having been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Likewise whilst passengers travelling to Australia do not have to show evidence of having been vaccinated against Covid-19, many other international destination do still have restrictions in place and passengers are encouraged to check their international destinations to ensure they are compliant.

Another year of Mask Festival has ended with very high note.
Groups and Individuals from our partner agents enjoyed the festival and trips as long as for 3 weeks.

Here is latest feedback from Germany :
========================
The main impression from the trip is โ€œexcellentโ€! The hotels have been better than expected, even on the Trobriands, it was just a bit challenging there to get the storage batteries loaded every evening. But the staff was very engaged, the stay was very nice and interesting. The hotels in Madang, Goroka and Rabaul very good, and she appreciated that they have had mostly a very good room in the hotel as well. The meals have been good, enough and tasty.

The guides have been always very friendly, speaking a good English and answered all questions regarding the culture and local handlings. Altogether her expectations have been more than fulfilled!
=======================

Thank you for those visited PNG, and the partner agents who entrusted your valued guests to us.

We take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to the family members of our staffs who support their fathers, mothers to work early morning to late night, no Sunday or Public Holidays. Without your support, we can not work in this challenging world.
Your hard work - Sleepless nights and sweats will not be in vain.

Regarding the Mt Ulawun eruption, we received a good news that after clearing the ash on the tarmac, Hoskins Airport is set to re-open by Sunday 30JUN.

While we pray for the people who are affected by the eruption, it is a huge relief for a travelling public including tourists visiting West New Britain.

The photo is courtesy of Walindi Plantation Resort; sky is very clear, can see the Volcano in the distance.

Mt Ulawun eruption - West New Britain, Papua New Guinea

Mt Ulawun in West New Britain has erupted yesterday 26 JUN 2019.

Mt Ulawun is in the middle of Rabaul/Kokopo and Kimbe - approx. 140Km away from Kokopo, and almost same distance from Kimbe. Both towns are not affected.

However Air Niugini temporarily suspended Flights to /from Hoskins as volcanic ash may affect the operation of jet aircraft.

Rabaul/Kokopo is not affected by this eruption and Walindi Plantation Resort in Kimbe is also safe.
Hopefully, Air Niugini flights to be resumed soon.
