About Us

Empowering the People of Sogeri through Tourism.

#DestinationSogeri is an initiative of the Kokoda Trail Hotel in partnership with the Team from Escape Island Getaway and the local Tourism Product Managers of Sogeri.

Our vision is to improve the wellbeing of the people of Koiari through Smart Business Operations and Innovative ideas under the combination of Tourism, Sport and Agriculture.

Since the establishment of this partnership on the first week of July 2019, all three parties have worked hard voluntarily to prepare, package and promote Tourism Products that would give residents of Port Moresby the best Tourism Experience they can get at less than an hours drive outside of Port Moresby.

From our local Product Managers the boys are Preparing the Destinations by constructing toilets, huts and BBQ areas, Bush Tracks, Motorcycling tracks, Biking Tracks and more.

From our Friends at Kokoda Trail Hotel, they are helping in complementing these Destinations by providing their facilities like shuttle services, conference facilities and accommodation. All of these packages put together to make up a Tourism Product.

From these Tourism Products we have professional volunteers from the Escape Island Getaway team providing their time and expertise for free to support and promote these Products and the People with the mission to empower the locals and improve their livelihoods.

We feel that we have to do things this way and really support the local groups because from our observation, all previous efforts in Terms of Tourism hasn’t really changed the lives of the people and improved their livelihoods. Therefore, #DestinationSogeri will not only promote the best experiences of Sogeri, it will also improve the lives of the people of Sogeri through volunteers.

So with the combination of these three groups and the use of this Page as an Information Centre, we believe we can give you a better experience of Sogeri in terms of Tourism Promotion and Travel Planning.
