Work Permit - PNG

Non-citizens who intend to work in PNG in the private sector must be in possession of a valid Work Permit.

Work Permit is regulated and issued by the Papua New Guinea Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA).

You must have in your possession of a valid work permit letter, Work Permit ID card and a valid Working Resident Visa before you travel to Papua New Guinea to commence work It is the responsibility of your sponsor or employer to apply for a work permit on your behalf.

Employers who employ non-citizens who are not in possession of valid work permit are in breach of the Foreign Employment Laws and both will be penalised accordingly.

This Visa (462) allows university or technical and vocational education (TVET) graduates to work and holiday in Australia for up to three years.

To apply, you will need to:
• be between 18 and 30 years of age
• have a current PNG passport that is valid for at least 18 months, or be able to get one
• have at least two years of post-secondary education (university degree, diploma, or technical/vocational certificates)
• have at least some money in the bank (to demonstrate you have your own resources – this money is yours to keep)
• can pass a visa health medical
