One day in the life of Chef Margarita “Gaita” Forés

One day in Bacolod, always on December 8, the feast of Immaculate Conception!

I spent a tender moment in Bantayan Park by the Bago River, Bago City, my hometown, where it all started for my family, remembering my grandfather J.

Amado Araneta who always said, "never forget how you started, and never forget where you came from", morning gift-giving at Balik-Maao with the group that always celebrates Christmas with the original community that worked at the Ma-ao sugar mill, then another gift-giving with the J.Amado Araneta Foundation at Balay Dako, an inasal, kansi and seafood lunch with the JAAF scholars, the hope of tomorrow, and finally visits to our Cibo stores at SM Mall and Ayala Mall .capitolcentral where l even chanced upon Ramon and Silvana Diaz with their son and llongga grandaughters!

What a full and fruitful day in my happy place.

That day when Margarita Forés ~ a Bagonhon and Asia’s Best Female Chef of 2016 hosted an intimate cocktail reception as part of the 115th Birth Anniversary of her grandfather J. Amado Araneta. This was taken three years ago on February 26, 2022 in Bantayan Park with the beautiful sunset and the Bago River completing the scene.

Ginkilala ang syudad kag makabig nga excellent ang compliance sa Republic Act 9003, ukon ang Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

Personal nga ginbaton ni Mayor Nicholas Yulo ang award nga nagakilala sa Bago City bilang environment champion.

REST IN PEACE MARGARITA FORES

Renowned chef Margarita Fores, named Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2016, has passed away in Hong Kong. She was found unresponsive in her hotel room after missing a scheduled lunch meeting. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Fores was a pioneering figure in gastronomy and a champion of Filipino cuisine, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the culinary world.
