LOOK | 4.01 KM SAMAL-DAVAO CONNECTOR BRIDGE—December 2024 Update

The installation of the crane way is already finished for the Samal-Davao Connector (SIDC) Bridge; and currently, the drilling and foundation works are well underway.

With a cost of P23.039 billion, the SIDC bridge is a two-way, four-lane 4.01-km bridge. It is 24 meters in width and has a vertical navigational clearance of up to 47 meters supported by two pylons with a height of 73 meters. The Samal-Davao Connector Bridge is expected to be finished by 2028—poised to become Mindanao’s longest bridge once finished.

BREAKING NEWS: Jeju Air Boeing 737 Flight From Bangkok Crashes On Landing In South Korea, At Least 23 Confirmed Dead

Jeju Air flight 7C 2216, arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed this morning during landing at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do, South Korea at approximately 9:07 AM. The Boeing 737-800 aircraft was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members.

Emergency crews swiftly responded to the scene, extinguishing flames and evacuating passengers from the rear section of the aircraft. Yonhap News has confirmed 23 casualties so far, with investigations into the cause of the crash currently ongoing.

Jeju Air is South Korea’s largest low-cost carrier, operating domestic and international flights across Asia. The airline operates a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft.

E-JEEP ni Chavit Singson, Nag-iisang Maka-DRAYBER at Maka-TAONG Sagot sa Problema sa Transportasyon

Buhul-buhol na trapik, nakaka-hikang usok at lagkit, at makapal na lupon ng mga komyuter--'yan ang lansangang binabaybay ng hari ng kalsada araw-araw.

Sa loob ng jeep ay mga pasaherong naka-upong bente-sinko, pawisan at hapung-hapo umaraw man o umulan. Sa unahan, ang drayber na nakaupo sa nanggigitatang trono, bawat kulubot sa noo ay paulit-ulit na kwento ng pagbubuwis ng kita, kalusugan, at kaligtasan sa bawat pasada.

Hindi tatakbo sa krudo ang mga e-jeep, kaya mas malaki ang iuuwing kita ng mga drayber sa kanilang pamilya. Bukod sa ginhawang dala nito sa bulsa ng mga drayber, magiging eco-friendly na din ang hari ng kalsada. Walang usok, walang ingay. Sa pamamagitan ng proyektong ito, magiging bahagi ng solusyon sa problema sa polusyon ang bawat komyuter at tsuper sa bawat byahe. Malinis na hangin at tahimik na lansangan para sa lahat.

Ang pagpapatupad ng mga makabagong solusyon sa mga hinaing sa transportasyon tulad ng e-jeepney ni Chavit ay hindi dapat maging pabigat sa mga unang maaapektuhan nito--ang mga drayber at operators. Kaya sa programang ito ni Singson, ang mga e-jeep na nagkakahalaga ng P1.2 milyon, maaaring makuha nang walang downpayment, walang collateral, at walang karagdagan interes--talagang abot-kaya.

Para kay Singson, ang e-jeepney initiative ay hindi lamang isang proyekto kundi isang tunay na solusyon sa matagal nang problema sa pampublikong transportasyon ng bansa. Hindi ito plataporma lamang sa kampanya kundi isang taos-pusong alay sa mamamayan. Anuman ang maging resulta ng kanyang pagtakbo sa Senado sa 2025, ipinangako ni Chavit na matutuloy ang pag-pasada ng mga makabagong e-jeep sa ating mga lansangan.

Minsan nang kusang-loob na naglabas ng milyones si Singson kahit alam niyang ikalulugi niya. Ito ay nang ganapin ang Miss Universe 2016 international pageant dito sa bansa. Ginawa niya ito upang maiangat ang imahe ng Pilipinas sa buong mundo.

"Sanay na akong malugi," sabi ni Singson. At handa siyang malugi muli, kahit bilyon pa, kung kapalit naman nito ay mas magaan na buhay para sa lahat.

Marami nang narating sa buhay si Chavit Singson. Ang nais niya ngayon ay matulungan naman ang mga Pilipino na marating ang kanilang mga patutunguhan nang komportable, ligtas, at may dignidad--sa araw-araw na biyahe man o sa buhay.
