(History and beauty of Capas, will not fade!)
Capas was ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐๐ by Augustinian Friars and is among the oldest towns of Tarlac together with Bamban (1710), Paniqui (1574) and Tarlac (1686). It is originally a part of Zambales and Pampanga, and its first settlers were the Kapampangan and the Aeta. Its creation was justified by numerous settlements which were already established in the river banks of Cutcut River since the advent of the eighteenth century. The settlements belonged to the domain of Pagbatuan and Gudya; two sitios united by Capitan Mariano Capiendo when he founded the municipality.
During the American Colonial period, the Americans built the Camp O'Donell for military installation until when the Japanese used it as a concentration camp during the Bataan Death March as the last stop of the march.
Capas became the ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ-๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐๐ข๐ฉ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐๐ and one of the favorite destinations. It also had a groundbreaking development due to the New Clark City. In 2020, house bills 7861 and 8219 were filed for the conversion of the municipality of Capas into a component city in the province of Tarlac. Both bills are currently pending with the committee on the local government.
