𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝘿𝙖𝙮, 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙙𝙤 𝙣𝙞 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙧 𝘿𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙐𝙮!

The City Government of Catbalogan headed by City Mayor Dexter Uy joins the nation and the global community in celebrating the National Tourism Week on September 21-27, 2024 and World Tourism Day on September 27, 2024.

With the theme of "Tourism and Peace", the pursuit of peace is a continuing endeavor, and progress through tourism is more relevant than ever. Tourism can play a vital role as a catalyst for fostering peace and understanding between nations and cultures and in supporting reconciliation processes. Moreover, tourism is clearly linked to the building blocks of peace- such as social justice, human rights, economic
equity, sustainable development, and broad-based democracy with the capability of non-violent conflict resolution. Tourism’s biggest strength, besides being an economic powerhouse, brings people together in non-adversarial circumstances.

Through the City Tourism, Culture, Arts and Information Office (CTCAIO) and supported by the Catbalogan City Tourism Council (CTC), tourism contribute not just towards economic upliftment but also on peace building among key stakeholders of the community thus establishing that potent role it plays towards sustainable development.

In the coming days and weeks, we will be featuring local sites, events, intangibles, and other tourism components and segments in Catbalogan City that reflects not just the character and identity but also the potentials and opportunities of our captivating contrasts.

𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗧𝗔 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

The Philippines was a shining star at the 31st World Travel Awards (WTA), sweeping a remarkable total of eight awards during the Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2024 at the City of Dreams on Tuesday (Sep. 3).

Among the accolades, the country was named Asia’s Leading Dive Destination for the sixth consecutive year and Asia’s Leading Beach Destination and Asia’s Leading Island Destination.

Some of the top destinations in the Philippines were also celebrated last night, with Intramuros recognized as Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction, Boracay as Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, and Cebu named Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination.

The Philippines also bagged the Asia’s Leading Marketing Campaign 2024 award for Love the Philippines campaign.
Meanwhile, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco was honored with the Transformational Leader Award in Tourism Governance, highlighting her exceptional contributions to the industry and her visionary leadership in advancing Philippine tourism.

The City Government of Catbalogan led by City Mayor Dexter Uy has firmly established itself as one of the most competitive cities not only in the Eastern Visayas.

In the recent Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI) conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Catbalogan ranked fourth among the seven cities in the Eastern Visayas Region. Additionally, it ranked 9th out of 33 component cities across the entire Visayas, reflecting its growing stature in the region.

The CMCI rankings are determined based on a comprehensive evaluation of each city's performance across five key pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation. Catbalogan City has consistently excelled, particularly in Government Efficiency, which remains one of its strongest attributes.

This achievement follows last year’s recognition, where Catbalogan City was honored as the 2nd Most Improved Component City in the entire Philippines. The city's upward trajectory is a proof to the strategic initiatives and reforms implemented under the city’s administration. Central to this progress is Mayor Dexter Uy's Development Agenda, a comprehensive plan that prioritizes the improvement of economic activities and the promotion of local industries.

The city’s strong performance in the CMCI not only highlights its competitive edge but also strengthens its commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth. As Catbalogan continues to rise in the rankings, it demonstrates that with a visionary leadership and a clear development agenda, significant progress is possible.
