Basig gamay lang na glimpse! 🙏🌕

LOOK: On 19 November 2021 (Friday), the Moon will partially pass through the umbra of the Earth’s shadow, thus, creating a Partial Lunar Eclipse. This eclipse will be visible in different parts of the world where the Moon is above the horizon including Oceania, the Americas, Eastern Asia, Northern Europe, and Indonesia.

In the Philippine setting, this eclipse will be difficult to observe because most of the major eclipse phases will occur below the horizon. The eclipse will begin at 2:03 PM and will end at 8:04 PM, however, the Moon is about to rise at around 5:22 P.M. This means that by the time the Moon reaches 19° above the horizon, the eclipse has already ended.

Unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses are safe to watch and do not require the use of any kind of protective filters for the eyes. A pair of binocular may be also used to help magnify the view.

WORLD WAR-2
Location
The Camotes Island Group (Camotes Islands) are located in Cebu Province in the Central Visayas (Region VII) of the Philippines. Includes four islands: Pacijan Island, Poro Island, Ponson Island and Tulang Island (Tulang Diot). The four islands have a combined area of 146.87 miles / 236.36km. The islands are located between Cebu to the west and Leyte to the east. To the northeast is Ormoc Bay. Borders the Camotes Sea to the south.

Wartime History
During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, the local population of the Camotes Islands were terrorized with roughly 300 killed or tortured. On December 3, 1944 during the Battle of Ormoc Bay, the Camotes Islands were nearby the battle area and some survivors swam to the Camotes Islands where they were rescued. On January 15, 1945 began the Battle of Camotes Islands when the U. S. Army landed a battalion from the 7th Infantry on Ponson Island with four PT Boats supporting the amphibious landing. Ashore, they found the Japanese had withdrawn from the island.

Poro Island
Poro Island is located at the center of the Camotes Islands. On January 18, 1945 during the Battle of Camotes Islands the same force from the U. S. Army landed on Poro Island and the next day encountered enemy fire. On January 23, 1945 engaged positions on Hill 854. On January 31, 1945 the defenders were defeated and the American force returned to Leyte and transfered control of the island to the Philippine Army 94th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion.

Takahashi and Camotes Detachment, composed of the 5th Infantry Regiment of the 8th Division, an artillery battalion, a company of engineers, a transportation company, and a Special Naval Landing Force of 400 men with four light tanks and sixteen trench mortars. were active in the Camotes Islands off the west coast of Leyte. This detachment was composed of one battalion (less two companies) of the 58th Independent Mixed Brigade, an artillery battery, and an engineering platoon.
