The 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫 conducted the 3rd Quarterly Meeting with the municipal and city tourism officers. The meeting was held at Swimming Pool Complex, Douglas Ra. Cagas Sports and Business Complex, Brgy. Matti, Digos City. The agenda of the meeting discussed key topics that include 2nd Quarter Tourist Arrival, Tourism Manpower Development, Tourism Promotion and Marketing, Socio Culture and Arts, Write shop on Tourism Development Plan Output, Plans for 3rd and 4th Quarter of 2024 and other related concerns.

In addition, The meeting commenced with a detailed review of the 2nd Quarter Tourist Arrival report. The data presented showed a positive trend in visitor numbers, reflecting the effectiveness of previous promotional efforts. However, the officers also identified areas that need further improvement to sustain and enhance this growth in the upcoming quarters.

In conclusion, the 3rd Quarter Tourism Officers Meeting was a constructive session that provided a clear direction for the region's tourism activities in the latter half of 2024. The officers left with a shared understanding of the goals and challenges ahead, committed to working collaboratively to advance the region’s tourism industry.

The Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office in partnership with Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office successfully conducted the 4-day Water Search and Rescue - Rubber Boat Management (WASAR-RBOM) Training last August 20-23, 2024 at Passig Islet Aqua Eco Park, Brgy. Bato, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. The WASAR-RBOM Training is essential to ensure the safety of both rescuers and those in need of assistance.

This training improves the efficiency of rescue operations, allowing responders to reach and assist victims quickly. It also ensures that responders are familiar with the operation, maintenance, and capabilities, thereby increasing their effectiveness during rescue missions.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Christopher T. Tan, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer for assisting us in this initiative. Congratulations to the staff of Passig Islet Aqua Eco Park for completing the 4-day WASAR-RBOM training.

The Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office conducted a site assessment at Silvano's Farm Park on August 20, 2024, located at 27 Poblacion, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur. During this hands-on activity, the team explored the area and experienced the organic processes involved in cultivating various products, such as grapes, goat milk, corned coffee, and organic fertilizers made from goat and chicken manure, among others. The farm also offers techniques in processing organic products and is a certified Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in the Davao region, providing educational insights into agriculture.

The site assessment concluded successfully, thanks to the coordination between the LGU Magsaysay Tourism and the cooperation of Silvano's Farm. This initiative not only enhances the farm's reputation as a potential agri-tourism site but also ensures that the site is ready for tourism activities, delivering a high-quality tourist experience while promoting the sustainability and development of the local community.

The Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office successfully conducted site assessments in the following municipalities and city: Padada, Matanao, and Digos City on August 13, 15, and 16, 2024. The assessments focused on Davao del Sur’s gastronomy, souvenirs, and local culture.

Tourism site assessments are essential to ensure that our sites are ready for tourism in terms of activities, services, accessibility, and amenities. They also help ensure that the sites are sustainable, beneficial to local communities, and well-suited to delivering a high-quality tourist experience.

𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 | The Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office proudly participated in the 45th Founding Anniversary of the 11th Regional Community Defense Group Reserve Command (11RCDG, RESCOM PA) on August 12, 2024 at H11RCDG, Mintal, Tugbok District, Davao City . The office contributed to the event by showcasing a variety of native products and cultural heritage from the province, highlighting the rich diversity and traditions of the region.

This significant celebration was attended by various units under Region XI, each establishing booths to present their unique offerings. The involvement of the Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office not only promoted local products but also played a key role in preserving and sharing the province's cultural identity with a wider audience.

𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏-𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 | The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur through the Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office in partnership with Department of Science and Technology XI - Davao del Sur through their Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development program successfully concluded the conduct of Kalagan Mat Weaving at Leling Elementary School, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur. This initiative aims to concentrate on fostering talent, cultural awareness, preservation of tradition, and economic potential.

Our sincere appreciation to DOST XI - Davao del Sur and Barangay Leling for assisting us in making this dream a reality. To Nanay Trinidad, we shall continue your legacy. Also, we commend our Honorable Governor Yvonne Roña Cagas for her ongoing support for this endeavor.

The Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions conducted a site assessment focusing on culture, gastronomy, and local souvenir products in the Municipality of Sulop. This initiative was led by Municipal Tourism Officer Ma'am Wilma Banogbanog and her dedicated staff.

In the Tagakaulo Tribe in Barangay Osmeña, under the leadership of Tribal Chieftain Datu Jessie Olaman, the tribe showcased their native delicacy "Lelet". It demonstrated its traditional cooking process using bamboo and leaves of "agikik."

Additionally, the team observed enhancements to the Heart of the Divine Mercy in Barangay New Cebu, Sulop, Davao del Sur. This visit aimed to promote and preserve the rich cultural and culinary heritage of the region, fostering a deeper appreciation for its unique traditions and spiritual landmarks.

LOOK | STA. CRUZ SITES ARE MOST VISITED AMONG DAVAO ADVENTURE CHALLENGE ATTRACTIONS

Three months after its launching, sites in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur are reported to have gained highest visits among all attractions enrolled under Davao Adventure Challenge (DAC) program in the region. The Department of Tourism XI reported on Friday, July 26, 2024 that Mt. Dinor and Mt. Apo are the early favorite spots in the first and second place, respectively. Water tubing in Sibulan River is at 5th place.

Now with new pool of private sector partners pouring in their support to the program, we encourage all our visitors to take advantage by participating the challenge if you visit Mt. Dinor, Mt. Apo and Sibulan River Tubing.

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟏𝟗 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟐𝟏 | The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur, through its Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office, conducted a benchmarking visit to the Puerto Princesa City Tourism Office. During the visit, they also explored two of Palawan's most renowned museums: the Palawan Heritage Center, managed by the Palawan Provincial Government, and the Palawan Museum.

The goal of this activity was to learn from the Puerto Princesa City Tourism Office's best practices in promotions and marketing, standards in development, planning, and culture and the arts. Additionally, the visit aimed to gather data on research, collection, and artifact management from the two museums.

July 10-11, 2024 | 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦-𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

The Provincial Tourism Development and Culture Promotions Office (PTDCPO) has successfully conducted a series of pre-inspection activities for tourism-related establishments in the Municipality of Hagonoy and Kiblawan.

This initiative aimed to assess establishments based on the standard protocols prescribed in the guidelines and to educate tourism stakeholders on the benefits and incentives of DOT-Accreditation as mandated by RA 9593, or the Tourism Act of 2009.These activities are crucial steps towards ensuring that our tourism establishments meet the highest standards, providing better services to tourists and contributing to the overall development of our tourism sector.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the Kiblawan Tourism Officer, Ms. Princess Aradillos, and Hagonoy Tourism Officer, Mr. Charles R. Abuda, for their outstanding support and dedication in assisting us in these activities.

We are thrilled to announce the successful visit of Hon. Mercy Grace J. Acain, Mayor of Initao Municipality, Misamis Oriental, Ms. Esther Sheila A. Monreal, Municipal Tourism Officer, and their team to our beloved province Maanyag nga Paraiso Davao del Sur! They visited us as part of a benchmarking activity to explore and inquire about best practices in tourism operations.

During the visit, Mayor Acain and Ms. Monreal engaged in a deep exchange of insights and ideas on enhancing tourism strategies with our Provincial Tourism Head Mr. Kervin Joseph D. Elijay. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen our tourism sector and foster regional cooperation.

July 9, 2024 | The 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 held a fruitful meeting with school mentors, community dance choreographers and coaches to launch the Davao del Sur Performing Arts Group.
The meeting covered plans for the selection process, grants, retention, policy, research mechanism, group affiliation and membership, performances and competition all aimed at showcasing diverse dance groups reflecting the province's cultural heritage and traditions.
