A garden will always be a work in progress. This is what our vegetable garden looked like when we first started. The next photo shows what it looks like today on an especially beautiful summer day. One of the best rewards is not only what finds itself on your table but being able to work hand in hand with nature and simply watch your garden grow. 🌱

We grow an assortment of vegetables and herbs with natural farming methods such as crop rotation, companion planting and using organic inputs for our plants. We love this short and easy hike from our property to Masing’s Peak for a panoramic view of the Mt. Apo range and Kapatagan valley. Take in the bucolic scenery on the way up as you pass through farms and catch glimpses of endemic birds and native farm animals enjoying their time in the sun.

Sir Ped’s is among the first coffee shops to open in the Bansalan-Balutakay area. The drive from Kapatagan takes about 20-30 minutes taking you through rolling farmlands and offering plenty opportunity to catch a glimpse of Mt. Apo. Sir Ped’s serves locally grown coffee and an array of breakfast meals and snacks. Enjoy the view of Mt. Tampurong and stroll around their sprawling property with no shortage of spots for photo ops in their well manicured garden complete with fun decor and beautiful flowering plants.

We recently visited Alta Mers which is located just a few minutes down the road from our location. It is a newly opened development from Mers Delicacies from Digos. There is a full service cafe and restaurant, swimming pool and playground. Its garden and grounds is a great spot for a lovely view of the valley and the Mt. Apo range.

No visit to Kapatagan is complete without passing by the public market to bring home with you some fruits and vegetables. Predominantly an agricultural community, the valley is known for its bountiful harvests of highland crops. Look no further if you’re looking for locally grown potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, spring onions, tomatoes, cabbage and a host of other native vegetables like gabi, alugbati, patola and of course, bananas.

This quaint, quiet and art filled mountain café has become a favorite stopover for a fresh brew and some tasty snacks. is conveniently located right along the highway in Sitio Teril but tucked away enough to offer a peaceful ambiance. We very much enjoy sitting outside their coffee kiosk with a view of the cottage garden and the neighboring hillside. ☕️⛰️

We discovered Blooms & Breeze, a Japanese inspired garden on the way to Tibolo. Walk through their tori gates to the top of the hill for an unobstructed view of Mt. Apo and Mt. Talomo. A variety of colorful flowers and Japanese decor will keep you entertained throughout the garden. Kimonos and parasols are also available for rent to complete your experience in this little taste of Japan.
