STATEMENT ON THE SUSPENSION OF INCOMING FLIGHTS TO GENSAN

The Local Government Unit of General Santos will impose a cancellation of all incoming commercial flights into the city starting August 24, 2020 until further notice.

This is to give way for the rest, recuperation, and regrouping of our medical, security and support frontliners.

As of the moment, all our medical, security and support frontliners are deployed as augmentation personnel to the ongoing 4th level contact tracing in three of our barangays namely Bula, Fatima, and Apopong. These are the same frontliners who facilitate the entry of LSIs and ROFs for incoming flights into the city.

They are also the same frontliners who have been on the ground since March of this year.

It is also sad to note that a number of our support and medical frontliners are under quarantine after one of our Rural Health Unit (RHU) doctor tested positive for COVID-19.

After careful deliberation, your LGU GenSan, with the recommendation of the Local IATF feels that we will be putting our residents in danger by fielding tired and overworked frontliners to man our airports and quarantine facilities.

We will resume flights once all our frontliners are declared safe from their quarantine, and once all ongoing contact tracing is done.

For returning residents and overseas Filipino workers affected by the suspension of flight, the IATF will still honor your RT PCR swab results even if it has passed the 72-hour window period set forth by our local ordinance.

We appeal for your kind understanding, and we request every one to include our frontliners in your prayers as we go through this pandemic together.

PAL ups flights to Pagadian next week

Philippine Airlines is operating more weekly flights to Pagadian starting August 25 to accommodate more passengers bound for the capital city of Zamboanga del Sur.

From the current three times weekly services every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, PAL is adding flights on two more days, every Wednesday and Saturday, for an expanded total of five PAL flights a week from Manila to Pagadian and vice versa.

Flight PR 2783 departs Manila at 11:00 AM and arrives in Pagadian at 12:45 PM. The late morning departure time is more convenient for getting to the airport, while the noontime arrival gives passengers more travel time to reach their hometowns in Zamboanga del Sur beyond the Pagadian City area. Flight PR 2784 meanwhile leaves Pagadian at 1:25 PM and arrives in Manila at 3:05PM.

Additionally, PAL is gearing up for more flights to Cagayan de Oro, which will be served daily from Manila from its current four-times weekly schedule.

More recently, domestic flights to and from Manila were suspended for two weeks, from August 4 to 18, in line with the 15-day imposition of a modified enhanced community quarantine in the national capital region.

With the return of General Community Quarantine, PAL has also restored flights from
Manila to Puerto Princesa, Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban, Butuan, Dipolog, Ozamiz, Cotabato, Davao, General Santos, Zamboanga, Catarman, Dumaguete, Kalibo.

The Cebu hub will also be operating flights to Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Dipolog, Dumaguete, Tacloban and Zamboanga while the hub Clark will resume flights to Davao. PAL will restore flights between Manila and Bacolod as well as Manila and Roxas.

Since the resumption of commercial air services last June, PAL has been operating limited flights to various domestic and international destinations

Strict safety protocols are being observed by PAL in every flight to ensure the safety of all passengers.

FYI: Davao City Locally stranded. Must read ‼️‼️

“Ang mahitabo sa pasahero, duna siya’y choice, karon kung nagdali ka, dili ka gusto madugay sa imong travel, you can take the RT-PCR (within 24-72 hours of departure date), dal-on nimo, and pag abot nimo diri mauna na ka og gawas, mauna na ka ma-advice kung unsa imong buhaton apil na ang home quarantine.

Katong mga walay RT-PCR result gina-hold nato sila, and gina-test nato sila without exception. They should be prepared to wait at least 24 hours because duna pay time iswab tanan, ug time nga i-run ang tanang test, ang time between ana nga possible ire-run or re-test ang specimen.

This is for free sa atoang Davao International Airport. Wala ta nag distinguish kung Davao City residents, or dili Davao City residents. As a way of helping also other LGUs i-test na lang nato tanan, and that RT-PCR result nila, mao na nila ang ilang dal-on sa ilang LGUs.”
