Day 2 of Shipboard Training with 2GO
On their second day of shipboard training, the 4th-year Hospitality and Tourism students embraced another exciting day aboard the ship. They started their second shift bright and early at 6:00 AM, ready to take on new responsibilities. Assigned across various departments, the students gained hands-on experience in real-world operations. Some worked at the front desk, gaining knowledge from the front desk officers and helping them in assisting passengersโ€™ inquiries and bookings, while others showcased their skills in the cafรฉ and restaurants, ensuring exceptional service.

The souvenir and food shops became a hub of activity, where students learned retail operations and customer engagement. Each student rotated through departments every two hours, allowing them to understand diverse aspects of hospitality management. This dynamic learning experience highlighted teamwork, adaptability, and professionalism in action.

The day was filled with challenges and valuable lessons, giving the students a deeper appreciation for the industry. With each passing day, they are honing their skills and preparing for a bright future in hospitality and tourism.๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ“’๐Ÿ˜Ž

Last day of the Manila Educational Tour and Day 1 of Shipboard Training of the 4th-year Hospitality and Tourism Management students๐ŸšŒโ›ด๏ธ

The day started with an insightful hotel operations talk at Brittany Hotel, focusing on the '4Ps of Hospitality Marketing: Product, Profit, Process, and People.'

Afterward, the group visited Luneta Park and the National Museum of the Philippines, immersing themselves in the countryโ€™s rich history and culture. They then enjoyed a buffet lunch at Tramway Buffet House, recharging for the next activities.

The students headed to Tutuban for pasalubong shopping, filling their bags with gifts and local treats.

By 6 PM, they proceeded to Manila North Harbor Pier for onboarding at 2GO. An orientation and vessel familiarization tour led by Shipboard Training Officer, Sir Jeorge Karlo R. Galicia gave them a closer look at ship operations.
Without missing a beat, they started their first shift onboard at 8:30 PM, gaining valuable hands-on training. A day filled with learning, exploration, and practical experience that brought them closer to their professional goals.

"An exciting and enriching 2nd Day Manila Educational Tour for the 4th-year Hospitality and Tourism Management students! The day began with a benchmarking and campus tour at Enderun Colleges, where students explored the world-class facilities and chefs of the International Hospitality Management program. It was an inspiring experience to see industry standards in action.
Afterward, they enjoyed free time at Venice Grand Canal Mall, where they arranged their own Venice Canal experiences and soaked in the picturesque atmosphere. Lunch followed at Market! Market!, providing a taste of local flavors and a chance to bond with peers.
The afternoon was packed with thrills and laughter at Enchanted Kingdom, with the 'Ride All You Can' pass ensuring nonstop fun. The Hospitality and Tourism Management-4 students fearlessly step out of the box and welcome another opportunity of learning by experience. Despite the longer distance, the HTM-4 made it to the Manila Exposure Trip with Jaunts and Journeys Travel Centre. As a starter for today's itinerary, Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality, Culinary, and Arts (MIHCA) warmly opened their doors fostering an excellent hospitality service along with a seminar for Career Advancement in Cruise Ships Operation. Afterwards, the hosts served a sumptuous lunch with a fine dining experience; followed by a housekeeping discussion with actualization. As a finale of the said seminar, a guided facility tour was enjoyed by the HTM students. No matter how exhausting long travel is, this MIHCA experience will always be a memorable one. And for the remainder of this exposure tour, rest assured that these HTM-4 will always have space for learning new things ahead of them.

Laughter, games, and enough new friendships to make your head spin. Everyone got super competitive over the games, especially because the prizes were totally awesome. Then came the "Indakan," a dance showdown that had everyone on their feet, and the "Mr. and Ms. Freshman" contest, where Mr. Bern from Hospitality Management and Ms. Christine from Tourism Management stole the show. The wet party was the highlight! Water guns, a firetruck, and music that had everyone dancing like crazy. DJ Aubrey spun tunes that had everyone moving and grooving. The SHTM MANILA EDUCATIONAL TOUR AND SHIPBOARD IMMERSION 2024 ๐Ÿ˜Ž The SHTM School of Hospitality and Tourism level 4 conducted a 3-day benchmarking and Hotel ocular visit at MIHCA- Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts, ENDERUN Colleges, City Garden Suites, Excelsior Hotel, Kabayan Hotel, OKADA Hotel, Venice Grand Canal, National Museum, Intramuros, Luneta Park and 2 days shipboard training with 2Go St. Michael the Archangel. The immersion, seminars, and training are part of strengthening their skills, attitude, career opportunities and preparation for their upcoming on-the-job training. The Acquaintance fever started with a departmental walk, recognition of newly elected officers of the different organizations for the academic year 2023- 2024, followed by the Amazing Race, Departmental Acquaintance party, Institutional Acquaintance party with the theme: The Eras Tour (SOUTHLAND College Version), Indakan Dance battle and Taylor Swift lipsync battle. Our SHTM students paved their way by participating in various games and activities, and of course, concluding the event with the wet party, where vibrant energy filled the southland field, and sung their hearts out with Southlandโ€™s very own DJ Aubrey. Everyone had fun and created wonderful memories with their teachers, friends and schoolmates. Here's a sneak peek of the "ganap".
