7 TIPS TO BUY CHEAP FLIGHT TICKETS

1. Book on Tuesday and Wednesday

Tuesday and Wednesday are among the best days to buy flight tickets. Most airlines usually set up their booking systems on Tuesday at 7:00 PM. This is because airlines know that most passengers will only have time to book tickets on weekdays. According to statistics, it is proven that most of us only browse ticket prices on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.

2. Book Early, But Not Too Early

Based on experience, you should book tickets at least 21 days in advance of your travel date. Most airlines have set up their systems to achieve as many ticket sales as possible. Therefore, the system has a certain quota for very cheap tickets. For example, in the system, it is determined that for flights from Kuala Lumpur to London, only the first 20 passengers will get the lowest price. The next 200 passengers will get a medium price, and the rest may be more expensive. In short, the airline's system will set ticket prices based on the margin they want when flying from Kuala Lumpur to London.

3. Suitable Flying Days

Try to book tickets to fly on Tuesday or Wednesday. Most airlines set these two days as 'less busy days' for booking systems. Airports are also usually less busy on these two days compared to Fridays and Sundays when the booking system and airports become very busy.

4. Look for the 'Best Deal' for International Flights

Most airlines will offer the 'Best Deal' about 11 to 12 weeks in advance for international flights. So, you need to regularly check ticket prices during this period.

5. Choose to Land at Smaller Airports

You can try this technique, which is landing at an airport that is not the 'main airport' for that destination. For example, if you want to go to London, many will usually choose to land at Heathrow. Next time, don’t land at Heathrow, but try landing at a 'smaller' airport near Heathrow, such as the airport in Manchester. Then, from Manchester, you can take a train to London. Try this method. It should be cheaper!

6. Clear 'Cookies'

Many people do not know this. Clear the cookies on your laptop, smartphone, and PC if you have visited the airline's website 30 days before. This is because through these cookies, the airline's booking system will assume that you have visited their website repeatedly. Therefore, the booking system will set the same price even if you have visited the website multiple times. Sometimes, the price may even increase! So, practice the habit of clearing cookies on your internet browser. If you don’t know how to delete them, ask Mr. Google!

7. Compare Prices

Don’t be lazy to google and compare the ticket prices you want on other websites. Don’t just focus on one website. You will be surprised because sometimes you will find cheaper ticket prices from the same airline. Here are some search engines that I frequently use for travel:

1. Skyscanner
2. CheapFlight
3. Google Flight

Ito 'yung mga literal na pumili ng Pilipinas!

FILIPINO TRAVELERS WHO HAVE VISITED ALL PROVINCES OF THE PHILIPPINES

Ivan Henares is the first person to have visited all 80 Philippine Provinces in 2010, certified as most travelled person during his time. Henares also known as Culture and heritage conservation advocate, tells how important to conserve Philippine heritage sites. In the following year, the second person who complete the 80 province is Estan Cabigas.

2012, Two year in the making, James Betia embarks on the journey of a lifetime that involves 100 days of nonstop travel on only 500 pesos per day, earning him a title as 'The fastest to travel in the Philippines' This is his way of encouraging fellow Filipinos to discover the beauty of our own country even with minimal resources.

Note: Ivan Henares was the first one who complete all provinces, He has visited 80 because it was 80 provinces before. James Betia completed all provinces on April 2012.

In 2013, the total provinces of the Philippines reached 81, with the addition of Davao Occidental, Che Gurrobat became the first Filipina to complete 80 provinces in 2014, due to a minor conflict in 1 province of Mindanao she could not complete the 81, but she was considered as 'The most traveled woman in the country'.

Harly Marcuap was featured in GMA News as one of "Most Travelled Man" in the country. Marcuap, finished 3 year of traveling to 81 Philippine Provinces on January 2014, also earning him a title and record holder as the "Youngest person to travel all over the Philippines" at age of 21.

Special mention, is the journey called ' 100 Days of Backpacking in the Philippines the Cheapest pay Possible' was documented by Xu Ling Feng who is a Chinese national but has travelled to all the 81 provinces in the Philippines in 2015.

Here is the other list of travelers who have also visited and able to complete the 81 provinces before 2017: Edgar Yap (2015), BJ Carreon (2015), Cuteeh Cath (2015) and Melvin Brutas (2016), Ramil delos Reyes (2016) Gael Hilotin (2016), Mervs Adventurista (2016), Jason Jacob Ponce (2016) Albert Realto (2016) and Darwin Marcial (2016).

In 2019, The Department of Tourism recognized Rommel Enguerra, the only Filipino who has been to 81 provinces, 116 cities and 17 regions of the Philippines within 69 days using Motorcycle.

In May 2021, former President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed into law, the Republic Act No. (RA) 11550, dividing the province of Maguindanao into two distinct and independent provinces known as Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur. The provinces of the Philippines became 82 since then.

And the greatest 'Piliin mo ang Pilipinas challenge' traveler in history is Mr. Arvid Marius Puzon, covered 100% of the country’s 148 cities and 1,486 municipalities. Began in San Ildefonso, Bulacan on March 27, 2013 and completed in Kalayaan, Palawan on March 19, 2023. He is the first person to visit all the towns and cities in Philippines history.

There are probably more people who did numbers of travels like them, but they chose to be silent or wasn't able to document it because there is no Internet yet. The thing here, is not how far and wide you traveled but how your life and the lives of your fellow countrymen changed during and after your journeys.
