‘The word sustainable implies “to enable the continuation of things as they are”. In an environment which has not been degraded and where communities are thriving, a new tourism development should aim to sustain that status quo. In a destination where poverty is rife, biodiversity is waning, resources are strained and unfairly distributed however, it is preferable not to sustain the situation but to improve it. We live in a world where most tourism destinations need some form of repair or restoration – social or natural – and so perhaps the time has come for all tourism to move beyond sustaining, into regeneration,’ says Portia Hart, Founder of the Green Apple Foundation.

Lanao del Sur Tourism took part in this year’s Farm Tourism Development Training in Lake Sebu.
The Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Tourism organized a 5-day intensive Training and Immersion on Farm Tourism Development held from 2 to 6 December 2021 in Sebul Farm, Lake Sebu.
As forecasted by D.A, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will be a major food producer for the Philippines in five years and integrating it with tourism is a win-win situation for both sectors.
Agritourism is a major contributor to socio-economic development that can create jobs and income for Bangsamoro. With fertile soil, natural landscapes, beautiful terrain, unique culture, and history. Farm Tourism is an ideal offering to visitors.
Thirty (30) participants representing Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, and BaSulTa were trained to identify resources that could be developed into viable Farm Tourism. Each province presented its own Product/Service Design, Product Costing, Business Model Canvas and Operations Improvement Plan.
Mr. Edmundo Y. Cejar, an earth warrior and sole proprietor of RioVista Farm & Forest facilitated the said training.
