Brief History of ECFMPRS: The abrupt and unexpected decline of Philippine economy during the last quarter of 1983 had greatly affected Permaline Container Corporation (a pioneer in container van manufacturing) and led eventually to its closure. Francisco, better known as ECF, was then working for it as Vice-President for Operations and saw the closure as a business opportunity. His expertise and experiences in the field of marine cargo container manufacturing and other related services had encouraged him to establish his own firm. On April 29, 1985, ECF METAL PRODUCTS AND REPAIR SERVICES came into being and was registered with the Bureau of Domestic Trade. ECFMPRS aimed high and worked hard to accomplish growth and expansion. Perseverance and dedication to costumers' need and satisfaction were it’s top priorities. Replacement parts for container vans were all done by sub-contractors and sold to end-users. ECFMPRS acquired a seven hundred (700) square meter lot, situated at No. 3 Rajah Soliman Street, Parang, Marikina City where it established its main branch. As expected, ECF Metals grew by several folds. Influx of costumers satisfied in ECFMPRS’ services were undisputed which obviously accounted for its expansion. Various capital equipments were also acquired such as Hydraulic Shearing Machine, Hydraulic Bending Machine and 1.5 ton-capacity forklift trucks. Likewise, the adjacent three (3) lots in Raja Soliman Street, with an aggregate area of 2,450 square meters were successively acquired. Hence, additional plant building and improvements were constructed
The container operations at customer’s yard were partially transferred to Marikina plant in July 1987. While container repair yard of foreign vans at Malaya Shipping Services, Inc. Mesa, Manila started in August 1991 – this added as a new revenue earning center. To augment the increasing customer’s demand, a 200 ton-capacity 20-foot Hydraulic Press Brake was acquired in April 1990 and additional one (1) unit of 3.5 ton-capacity and 15.0 ton-capacity forklift truck were purchased in September. In the middle of the 1990s, ECF Metal Products and Repair Services (ECFMPRS) diversified its operations by venturing in special construction projects, this time focusing on the company’s technology in custom-made containers for non-conventional uses. And so it did. It completed four (4) housing projects such as a 3-storey container van consisting of eleven (11) units of 40-footer container offices and a 2-storey container van consisting of six (6) units of 20-footer container offices. Other various models of single container field offices, container police detachments, container housing of telecommunication equipment for Piltel, Islacom, Digitel and Smart Communication, Inc. were also completed. As a response to the ever increasing costumers’ demand, ECFMPRS extended its manufacturing and container repair operations outside the Marikina Plant. A new 2,156 square meter plant was built in Balut, Tondo, Manila in November 1991. The lot valued Php 7.7 Million and was acquired from Negros Navigation. Growth and expansion continued to the late 1990s and a new two (2), 199 square meter prime property was acquired, through financing arrangement with Philtrust Bank, at No. 491 General Ordonez St., Marikina Heights, Marikina City. There, the 3rd ECFMPRS plant was soon operated. The combined production capacity of all ECFMPRS plants is rated at 200 TEUs per month or 2,400 TEUs per year! Other types of container vans manufactured by ECFMPRS are: 1CC (20-footer); 1DH-S/1DH (10-footer) and special containers (such as tank tainers, flat racks, hog containers and ventilated containers); and also 21 and 22-footer containers, fruit vans, platform containers and many others types of container vans.
