This year, In line with the Great Leyte Homecoming for the 80th Leyte Gulf Landings Anniversary, a campaign that calls us to return to where our hearts belong, the Leyte Provincial Capitol proudly presents a Christmas Tree like no other— perched on a boat that symbolizes the essence of homecoming.

Christmas is not just about coming home; it’s about spending time with loved ones, creating memories, and sharing what truly matters—our time, attention, and love.

The Boy Scout on the boat stands as a tribute to the bravery and courage of those who fought for our freedom during the Leyte Landings, while Santa Claus, who comes home to us every year, mirrors MacArthur’s legendary promise, "I shall return", we are reminded of the beauty and meaning of coming home—not only to our families and friends but also to the moments that truly matter.

Finally, the windows on the tree invite us to reflect beyond its beauty and lights, to look deeper than its dazzling lights and ornaments—reflecting on what we have missed, what lies within us, and what we can share with others. This season, let us give not just material gifts but our time, attention, and love.

: On this day, 11 years ago, Supertyphoon Yolanda struck Leyte and the whole of Eastern Visayas, leaving devastation in its wake. We commemorate this day by remembering the lives lost and the unimaginable destruction that reshaped our communities.

Yet, out of the wreckage, Leyteños rose—undaunted, resilient, and united. Through hardship, we have shown the world the strength of our spirit, rebuilding not only our homes but our hope and dreams.

We are Leyteños. Strong in the face of storms, unbreakable in spirit, and proud of our enduring resilience.
