BI: REGISTERED FOREIGNERS CAN REPORT VIRTUALLY

MANILA, Philippinesโ€”The Bureau of Immigration (BI) urged registered foreign nationals to take advantage of the virtual Annual Report, introduced to streamline the reporting process.

Under Philippine laws, aliens holding immigrant and non-immigrant visas, who were issued an alien certificate of registration identity card (ACR I-Card) are required to present themselves to the bureau for the first 60 days of the year for the annual report.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco emphasized the benefits of the virtual option, allowing foreign nationals living in the country to fulfill their annual reporting obligations through an end-to-end online process.

The virtual Annual Report, accessible on the BIโ€™s online services website at http://e-services.immigration.gov.ph, provides a seamless experience where foreign nationals can book appointments, make payments, and submit their reports from the comfort of their own homes.

Tansingco said that the virtual option aims to provide convenience while maintaining compliance through an online registration platform.

โ€œWe encourage all eligible foreign nationals to embrace this innovation as part of our ongoing efforts to modernize our processes," he said. โ€œThese are all learnings from the pandemic. We see the need to update our procedures for it to be more accessible to more people,โ€ he added.

Applicants opting for the virtual reporting option are required to visit the BIโ€™s online services website to set up their appointments.

The virtual annual report complements the physical reporting option available at two malls in Metro Manila, as well as other BI offices nationwide.

โ€œFor those choosing the traditional route in Metro Manila, the physical Annual Report for the BI's head office in Manila will take place at the 3rd Level Center Atrium of Robinsons Manila and the Government Service Express (GSE) Unit of SM Mall of Asia from Mondays to Fridays, excluding holidays, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.,โ€ Tansingco added.

The BIโ€™s Alien Registration Division has outlined specific requirements for the annual report, including a completely filled-out online registration accessible via the BIโ€™s e-services website. Foreign nationals must present their original valid Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACR I-Card) with valid visas, along with a valid passport.

Certain groups are exempted from physically reporting to the BI, including foreign nationals below 14 years old, those aged 60 and above, mentally or physically incapacitated individuals, pregnant women, and foreigners with medical conditions. #

FILIPINA INTERCEPTED AFTER BUYING FAKE PASSPORT ON TIKTOK

PASAY, Philippines โ€” Officers of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) intercepted a Filipina trafficking victim after presenting a fake Belgian passport she bought from Tiktok.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco shared that the interception occurred last September 5 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

The Filipina victim, identified as Josephine in her Belgian passport, attempted to depart for Ercan, Cyprus via a Kuwait Airlines flight.

Josephine initially presented her Belgian passport to immigration authorities, claiming that she was transiting from Kuwait to Izmar, Turkey.

However, immigration officers noted numerous inconsistencies on her passport and supposed arrival stamps. The matter was immediately escalated to the Duty Immigration Supervisor, who in turn submitted the documents for forensic screening.

The BIโ€™s Forensic Documents laboratory confirmed that Josephineโ€™s passport, residence card, and immigration stamps were all counterfeit.

She was about to be arrested for being an illegal alien after insisting that she is Belgian, when she admitted that she has a Philippine passport, and used to be an overseas Filipino worker in Israel. She was deported from Israel earlier this year for working without a valid visa, but came across a Tiktok video offering EU passports to travel visa-free to multiple countries.

She allegedly paid a total of PhP 700,000 for her fake documents. She was promised work in Greece as a caregiver, with an offer of PhP 180,000 salary per month.

Josephine was immediately turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking for assistance and filing of appropriate charges against her recruiter.

MANILA, Philippines โ€” The Bureau of Immigration (BI) celebrates its 83rd anniversary on Friday.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco shared that they have prepared a small celebration to celebrate the agencyโ€™s anniversary and other achievements.

Tansingco, who is also set to celebrate his first year in office later this month, said that he is grateful that the Bureau has come a long way in terms of organizational and system improvements.

โ€œThis could not have been done without the support and efforts of our personnel, who tirelessly perform their duties,โ€ said Tansingco.

He shared that he understood the plight of BI employees, who continuously face criticism despite their efforts.

Tansingco is the first appointed Commissioner that came from the ranks. He worked at the BI from 2007 to 2017, holding several key posts including Chief of Staff and Technical Assistant of the Office of the Commissioner, and as a lawyer of the BI Board of Special Inquiry.

The BI Chief showcased achievements made by the agency in the past year, including more than 600 arrested illegal aliens, fugitives, and terrorists, exclusion of 2,768 foreigners, and deportation of 1,330 aliens who are ineligible to enter or stay in the country for undesirability or other immigration offences.

The agency also completed the hiring and prometon processes of 455 personnel, and maximized the utilization of its budget to ensure complete utilization of annual programs.

The BI hailed modernization efforts like the introduction of the eTravel, the partnership on the eVisa, the online application and payment system, and online visa extension.

Within the year, Tansingco announced that green lanes for Filipino and foreign frequent travelers, ACR I-Card Holders and Overseas Filipino Workers will be opened in the countryโ€™s ports. Together with the e-Gates, the green lanes, mobile counters, and rapid response teams are set to resolve concerns on congestion.

Tansingco said that for the coming years, modernization will remain a priority of the Bureau. They have endeavored to request for additional budget from the national government to procure much-needed electronic gates to replace 50% of their manual counters.

He shared that the public will soon experience fully automated issuance and extensions of visas and permits, as well as other major immigration services and procedures.

โ€œTama na yung panahon ng luma at mabagal, gusto natin mabilis, maayos, at tapat ang serbisyo na ibibigay natin,โ€ he stated.

He said that they are also hoping that the BIโ€™s new law will soon replace the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, for the agency to better adapt to modern times.

โ€œWe have achieved so much, and are yet to achieve more. We have been at the receiving end of unfair criticisms, yet we remain undeterred in our drive to protect the abuse of our countryโ€™s borders,โ€ said Tansingco. โ€œWe will continue to invest in modern infrastructure. Our vision is to become a global exemplar of efficiency and excellence in immigration services,โ€ he stated.

PASAY, Philippinesโ€”Immigration Officers assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 barred from entering the country an American national tagged as a registered s*x offender (RSO).
RSOs include people who have been previously convicted of s*x offenses under prevailing laws of their country.
The American, identified as Gabriel Rodriguez, 34, attempted to enter the country last September 2 on board an All Nippon Airways flight from Haneda when officers intercepted him.
He was excluded under Section 29(a) 3 of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, which states that persons who have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude shall be barred from entering the Philippines.
Records reveal that Rodriguez has been convicted in 2019 in the US for unlawful s*xual in*******se with a minor.
โ€œRegistered s*x offenders pose as a threat to our people,โ€ said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco. โ€œThose who preyed on children have no place in the Philippines,โ€ he added.
As a consequence of the exclusion, Rodriguezโ€™s name has been included in the BIโ€™s blacklist, making him perpetually barred from entering the country.

BI ARRESTS KOREAN FRAUDSTER

QUEZON CITY, Philippines โ€” The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Sunday, arrested a South Korean national wanted in his home country for fraud. BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the Korean as Son Sobeom, 33, who was arrested in Camp Crame, Quezon City last August 20.

The arrest was conducted by the BIโ€™s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) in coordination with Korean authorities and the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Anti-Transnational Crime Unit (PNP-CIDG-ATCU).

Son was subject of a warrant of deportation that the BI issued in 2017 after being tagged as an undesirable and undocumented alien. His passport was reportedly cancelled by the Korean government, and a warrant of arrest was issued against him by the Suwon District Court in 2016, for fraud in violation of the Criminal Act of the Republic of Korea.

He is allegedly a member of a telecom fraud syndicate which operates by posing as bank employees. The scammers would then offer low interest loans via telephone or text messages to unsuspecting victims. The scheme was said to have defrauded over KRW 188,000,000 or almost Php 8,000,000 from their Korean victims.

Son will remain in the CIDG-ATCUโ€™s facility pending deportation proceedings.

BI nabs alleged Polish forger

DILIMAN, Quezon Cityโ€”Operatives of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) fugitive search unit (FSU) arrested last August 16 a 48-year-old Polish fugitive.

BI FSU Chief Rendel Ryan Sy identified the fugitive as Cezary Krynski, who was arrested pursuant to a mission order issued by BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

Krynski was arrested by the FSU in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Intelligence Group, Regional Special Operations Group of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime (PCTC), and Interpol NCB Manila.

The arrest stemmed from information obtained from Polish authorities through the PNPโ€™s Intelligence Group stating that Krynski is the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by the district court in Bielsko-Biala for fraud, swindling, and forgery.

His name has likewise been included in the Interpol Diffusion list due to his crimes.

He was also found to be overstaying in the country, apart from being tagged as an undesirable alien.

Krynski shall remain in the BIโ€™s facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending his eventual deportation. #
