Changes in the World That Will Happen in the Near Future
Here are some of them:
1. Gas stations will disappear, just like video rental stores did in the past.
2. Car repair shops for oil changes, mufflers, and radiators will vanish.
3. Gasoline/diesel engines consist of 20,000 parts, whereas electric car engines have only 20 parts. They come with lifetime warranties, are repaired at the dealership, and can be replaced within 10 minutes.
4. Electric car engine repairs will be handled in regional workshops using robots.
5. If your electric car engine breaks, you'll head to a facility similar to a car wash. While enjoying your coffee, your car will be ready with a new engine.
6. Gas pumps will disappear.
7. Streets will be equipped with electricity meters and charging stations (already implemented in the First World).
8. Major smart car manufacturers have allocated funds to build factories exclusively for electric vehicles.
9. Coal industries will vanish, and oil companies will cease operations. Drilling for oil will stop.
10. Homes will generate and store electricity during the day for their use and resale to the grid. The grid will distribute this energy to high-consumption industries. Have you seen Teslaβs solar roof?
11. Todayβs children will view current cars as museum pieces. The future is approaching faster than we imagine.
The Fall of Traditional Models
12. In 1998, Kodak had 170,000 employees and sold 85% of the worldβs photo paper. Within two years, its business model collapsed, and it went bankrupt. Who thought this would happen?
13. What happened to Kodak and Polaroid will happen to many industries in the next 5β10 years.
14. In 1998, did you imagine that in three years, photography on film would disappear? With smartphones, who uses cameras these days?
15. Digital cameras were invented in 1975. The first had 10,000 pixels. Initially disappointing, it followed Moore's Law, became exponentially better, and took over.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution
16. This will happen again (faster) with AI, health, self-driving cars, education, 3D printing, agriculture, and jobs.
17. As stated in *The Shock of the Future*: βWelcome to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.β
18. Software has disrupted and will continue to disrupt most traditional industries in the next 5β10 years.
Disruptive Innovations
19. Uber, a software tool, owns no cars yet is the worldβs largest taxi company. Who predicted this?
20. Airbnb is the largest hotel company, owning no property. Did Hilton anticipate this?
21. AI: Computers are becoming better at understanding the world. This year, a computer defeated the worldβs best player in a gameβ10 years earlier than expected.
22. Young lawyers in the U.S. struggle to find jobs because IBMβs Watson provides legal advice within seconds, with 90% accuracy compared to humansβ 70%. Law students should reconsider their career paths; 90% of lawyers will disappear, leaving only specialists.
23. Watson also helps doctors diagnose cancer with four times the accuracy of human doctors.
Self-Driving Cars and Urban Transformation
24. Self-driving cars are here. In two years, the industry will transform.
25. You wonβt own a car but summon one via phone. It will arrive, take you to your destination, and leave.
26. Parking spaces will become parks, as fewer cars will be neededβ90β95% fewer.
27. With autonomous driving, accidents will drop to one per 6 million miles, saving a million lives annually.
The Decline of Traditional Car Companies
28. Traditional car companies will collapse. Tech companies like Tesla, Apple, and Google will lead the revolution, creating computers on wheels.
29. Volvo has eliminated internal combustion engines, producing only electric and hybrid cars.
30. Engineers at Volkswagen and Audi fear Teslaβs dominance and for good reason.
Insurance, Real Estate, and Green Cities
31. Insurance models will collapse as costs drop without accidents.
32. Real estate will change; remote work will lead people to choose more scenic, affordable neighborhoods.
33. By 2030, electric cars will dominate, cities will be quieter, and air will be much cleaner.
34. Electricity will become incredibly cheap and clean as solar production increases exponentially.
Green Energy Revolution
35. Fossil fuel companies are trying to limit home solar installations but canβt stop the technological shift. Green energy from sources like hydrogen and eco-friendly cities will rise, while nuclear reactors will shut down in most countries.
Healthcare Breakthroughs
36. This year will see the release of Tricorder Xβa medical device inspired by *Star Trek*. It connects to your phone, scans your retina, analyzes your blood, and breathes to identify 54 biomarkers that diagnose almost any disease.
