Maqotana was derived from the Kapampangan phrase Mako and Tana which means "Let's go" in English. Kapampangan is a local dialect from the Philippines. As a traveller herself, the founder of Maqotana saw inspiration in giving more attention to areas that are more obscure within popular destinations.
