𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝘁. 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆

The Department of Tourism (DOT) advises the traveling public to monitor current bulletins and maintain active awareness of local conditions when traveling to areas within the vicinity of Mt. Kanlaon on Negros Island now placed under Alert Level 2 by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS).

Alert Level 2 indicates that Mt. Kanlaon is currently exhibiting moderate levels of unrest. There is a potential for increased volcanic activity that may lead to minor eruptions or significant ashfall.

In view of this, the DOT-Region VI and VII are tasked to closely monitor these developments and are directed to make necessary preparations, as need may arise.

Tourists, Tourism-Related Establishments (TREs), and the general public are likewise advised that entry to the Mt. Kanlaon Nature Park is strictly prohibited. All tourism-related activities within the Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ), are also now suspended. Travelers are strongly advised to avoid the PDZ which extends a 4-kilometer radius from the summit.

All tourism sites and activities within Canlaon City in Negros Oriental are suspended.

Given the current volcanic activity, travelers should stay informed about potential flight cancellations or delays. Ash clouds from the volcano can affect air travel, leading to disruptions in flight schedules.

If your travel plans are affected by the volcanic activity, it is important to make timely arrangements with your accommodation providers. Contact your hotel or accommodation establishment as soon as possible to discuss rebooking or modifying your reservation.

For any inquiries or assistance needed during this period, the DOT Call Center 151-TOUR (8687) is available 24/7 daily and can provide reliable information and support for all tourism-related concerns.

On the whole, the health and safety of our visitors and the local communities remain the top priority of the DOT during this time.
