Hey everyone! 🌟 Join us as we look back on an unforgettable journey from Tarlac City to the breathtaking Santa Ana, Cagayan Valley, Philippines! 🚗💨

Our Journey:
We started our adventure on May 10 at 9 PM, leaving Tarlac City behind and heading north. After an all-night drive, we arrived at Anguib Beach at 8 AM on May 11. The early morning view of the white sandy beach and crystal-clear waters was worth the 11-hour trip! 🌊🌴

Our Stay:
At 10 AM, we checked in at the cozy Blue Coast Beach Hotel. The friendly staff and beautiful beachfront location made it the perfect base for our explorations. 🏨🌅

Island Hopping Adventure:
By 11 AM, we were ready for some island hopping! We headed to San Vicente Port and rented a boat for P3,500. Our island hopping tour took us to:

1. Palaui Island: This Survivor filming location amazed us with its untouched beauty and lush landscapes. 🏝️
2. Punta Verde Island: We explored the vibrant Coral Sanctuary, marveling at the colorful corals and marine life. 🐠🌊
3. Crocodile Island: Despite its name, this island offers stunning views and a unique experience. 🐊🌺

🏖️ 3 Days and 2 Nights at Boracay (March 26-28, 2024) 🏝️
📍 From Clark International Airport to Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (Caticlan)

✈️ Fare (Booked via Cebu Pacific Air App): P11,836.64 (2 persons)
🛏️ Accommodation at Pinnacle Boracay (Booked via Agoda App): P10,261.62 (Superior Double for 2 pax)
🚐 Roundtrip Airport Transfer (Boracay Water Activities - Online Booking): P1,100 per head

I booked this tour three months ago as a 16th wedding anniversary gift for my husband. Just last month, our friends Cath and Geof joined the plan since we're about to celebrate our 20 years of friendship.

🔵 Day 1 (March 26, 2024)
We arrived at the airport around 9 am, and our check-in time is still 3 pm. We had lunch at CityMall Boracay. After lunch, we rented an e-tryc for a land tour while waiting for our check-in time.

Their regular rate is P500 per hour, but we met one who agreed to P400 per hour. We only needed 2 hours. We skipped a few destinations, such as two beaches requiring guests to take their shoes off and the mangroves because it was hot and the smell was unpleasant.

We arrived at Pinnacle Boracay around 2:30 pm. We agreed to meet at the lobby around 5 pm to explore the beach together.

That night - we tried to explore the famous Boracay nightlife. We went inside the "secret closet" (Battuta Boracay). But since we're not heavy drinkers, we decided to eat dinner elsewhere.

Unfortunately, we landed in a restaurant (with a live band and videoke)—I forgot the name. Their P980 bulalo was bland and nasty. It was mixed with Instant Beef Noodle's seasonings. It was not worth the money.

Because we were no longer in the mood, we decided to return to the hotel and call it a night.

🔵 Day 2 (March 27, 2024)
Breakfast buffet at Pinnacle Boracay. The food choices are good. I love their pancakes!

After lunch, we went straight to the beach. An agent offered us a private island hopping for P5,000. I negotiated it down to P3,500. We met at P4,000.

We walked from Station 1 to Station 2. The heat made it tiring. It was also frustrating because we were about to pay P4,000, but the agent had us walk under the scorching heat.

When we started island hopping, we learned that the tour only cost P3,500—the agent's commission. So, a lesson learned: don't transact with agents without IDs. It's not about the commission—if we made the transactions directly with Diamond Water Sports Boracay Island, they'd offer a free shuttle that would easily pick us up and drop us off!

It was a 4-hour boat tour, and we spent most of it at Puka Beach. It was relaxing. We also purchased Helmet Diving (P700 per head) and Parasailing (P1,400 per head) directly from Diamond Watersports, making everything seamless.

Dinner time—we didn't want to repeat our mistake from our first night there. We went straight to Gerry's Grill Boracay Station 1, which was already closed then. A guard said there was another one at Station 2, so we rode an e-tryc to Station 2.

We are not super picky about food. We are Kapampangans, so we're looking for something excellent or at least resembles home.

🔵 Day 3 (March 28, 2024)
We agreed to wake up early to enjoy our remaining hours in Boracay. We woke up at 7 am and headed straight to the beach. I know it's now algae season in Boracay, but the beach in the morning is more stunning.

An e-tryc from Ate Levi was already waiting at the hotel's entrance at precisely noon to pick us up.

Godofredo P. Ramos Airport was already jampacked with tourists. The comfort rooms were smelly, and the air conditioning didn't work properly. Lots of toxic travelers were occupying seats for their bags. Most foreigners with no kids were standing—maybe because they saw what I was seeing.

Our flight back home was also delayed by 40 minutes.

02/03/2023

Since we're the ones celebrating and no kids were involved, we spent the whole day of February 27, 2023, celebrating our 18th anniversary (of togetherness) shopping for shoes!

Happy 18th year, husband. Looking forward to celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary this month.

Since we first stayed in Pico Sands Hotel in Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club for our son's 5th birthday more than four years ago, we promised ourselves we would return.

Our family's tradition is to go out of town after every new year celebration. Instead of going to Baguio City this year, we changed our plans last minute and booked a condo unit at Pico de Loro since Pico Sands Hotel was already fully booked in agoda.

It was my first time browsing through "Agoda Homes." I didn't know that the payment should be made outside the app, according to the owner's terms. I transferred the total amount of P22,250 online, and the owner instantly acknowledged it and sent me documents we would use upon registration at Pico.

Fast forward to our travel date last January 2, 2023. I don't know if it was because of the pandemic or the number of guests that day, but we faced a few hassles during the entire registration process at Pico de Loro Country Club. I never liked waiting in long lines, so it was an issue, at least for me. Not to mention that we had to wake our kids, who were inside the car at the parking lot, so that the reception could see all of them in person. I know that this is a protocol. However, the building’s parking lot is a bit far from the reception, and it was 1 pm. We never encountered any of these when we booked at Pico Sands Hotel.

Another essential thing to mention - we paid P1,300 per adult and P500 per kid. These were for the "beach fees." When we stayed at Pico Sands Hotel in 2018, there were no extra fees like these.

After registration, we headed straight to our rented unit in Carola A. I called the caretaker, and we agreed to meet in the lobby. When we got there, my 1-year-old baby was already throwing tantrums, and the caretaker wasn't in the hall yet. I messaged the owner, and he told the receptionist to allow us to go to the unit directly.

Fortunately, the caretaker finally showed up. She's nice. She asked the condo staff to help us with our things.

The unit was nice, clean, and quiet. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, one kitchen, and a balcony facing the lagoon.

After settling in, we prepared and had lunch. The kitchen has a rice cooker, stove, ref, toaster, cooking pans, plates, and utensils.

We spent our first day at Pico Beach and Pico Sands Hotel's swimming pools.

The second day was rainy. The sight of gloomy skies and cold weather soothes me, so this didn’t become a problem. As a matter of fact, I loved it!

Before heading to Pico Beach again, we tried exploring Pico Sands Hotel to see if there were new facilities since we first booked here in 2018.

My son requested to try their “Videogame Room.” The rate was P240 per player. My husband, on the other hand, went to the “Table Tennis Room.”

After that, we headed straight to Pico Beach. Afterwards, the swimming pool again. But during our second night, we had dinner at Lagoa, the same restaurant where we celebrated my son's 5th birthday.

I didn’t get the chance to take videos on Day 3 because we were too busy packing our things and recreating some photos.

We decided to celebrate our son's 9th birthday in Ilocos Sur. When I browsed for a hotel thru the Agoda app, I stumbled across Casa Cecilia Hotel in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, which is only 5 minutes from Vigan.

The hotel looks peaceful and has different pools that the kids would surely enjoy. They also have a spa area with a whirlpool bath and sauna (separate payment of P500 to P700 per head).

Casa Cecilia's food is much better than the loads of crap served at the hotels we booked in Subic and Baguio recently. I will never forget the bland corned beef I ate in Subic for breakfast (sorry!). At Casa Cecilia Hotel, we tried almost everything on their menu, and they're all satisfying. My favorite is their Banana Rum.

As for the family room we rented for three days and two nights for P12,100, it was comfortable. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom. Our lovely helpers and our kids occupied the first one, and my husband and I used the other one with a double-sized bed. The only thing that made me uncomfortable was the mattress' plastic cover. I guess it was the owner's way of prolonging the life of the bed. If that's the case, then it's okay. As an entrepreneur, we must take some measures to protect our property. As long as it's not hurting anyone, then I respect it.

My husband is the type who never stays in one place, especially when the whole family's out of town. For him, "I drove this far, so let's make the most out of it!" So on the second day, I had to rearrange my plan and compromise.

I immediately did an itinerary for the whole day. Our first destination was supposed to be Ilocos Sur Adventure Zone. When we got there, it was closed. So we proceeded to our second destination, Baluarte (ni Chavit). We arrived there at lunchtime, and the temperature was BURNING HOT. Fortunately, Baluarte now offers a shuttle service for P250 per head. When we first visited Baluarte, Ilocos Sur, Philippines 9 years ago, this convenience was yet to be available.

In comparison to our visit last Holy Week of 2013, there are more animals now. However, during our recent trip, picture-taking with Chavit's tiger and his giant yellow snake was no longer available. Maybe because it was a weekday?

We had lunch at Cafe Leona Restaurant. The restaurant was still rustic. The food was good. I love their adobong labong and bagnet sisig.

After walking a bit through Calle Crisologo Vigan, we returned to the hotel upon the kids' request. You know, kids- they're more excited to swim than to explore the heritage city of Vigan.

After checking out at Casa Cecilia Hotel on our third day, we decided to explore Abra a bit since many locals said it was like Baguio - cold and scenic. After having a late lunch at the unventilated second floor of McDonald's near Victoria Park Kasamata Hill Bangued Abra, we decided to head home already instead of going straight to Apao Rolling Hills, Abra. For some reason, the Waze app wouldn't show us the routes to Apao, but when I tried to search for our way home to Tarlac City, it instantly said, "We're all set. Let's go!". We took that as a sign.

We stayed at iCove Beach Hotel in Subic, Zambales overnight. We chose the Seaview Room 2. It was excellent, and I was able to take a time-lapse video of the sunrise.

The staff who were on duty the next day weren’t as helpful as the ones who were there when we checked in. When we asked for assistance with our bags, he chose the lighter bag and left the heaviest one for me. That was when this painful sting around my 1-year old caesarian section stitch started. :(

I would still recommend iCove Beach Hotel though. Just don’t expect much from the staff.

What I wouldn’t recommend was “The Coffee Shop” restaurant. The staff on duty during our first day recommended this restaurant, so we went there for dinner.

The floor was dirty, and the crew was not so friendly. The servings were big. I’m not sure if it was our Kapampangan taste buds, but we didn’t like the food. We ordered Kare Kare and Kaldereta. Normally, I’m not a fan of "sawsawan" but I had to request one because the dishes were bland (but had a slightly sour after-taste).
