TODAY: Opening of the 1st National Coffee Art Camp To develop and promote the growth of Philippine Culture and the Arts, Sining Kape at Kultura and Nayong Kalikasan collaborated to carry out the 1st National Coffee Art Camp, which took place in the community of Taywanak Ilaya, Alfonso, Cavite. The event started off with coffee talks introducing the attendees to coffee-related products such as barako kaong and barako buko pie, that support the events’ tagline "Ang kape, hindi lang iniinom, kinakain at pinipinta pa." The main event proceeds with the "Adopt a Barako Tree" Coffee Tree Planting program, which carries the tagline, "We plant coffee for future generations to enjoy." The program was led by Mr. George Salinas, the event director, and Ms. Aida Gonzales, a dedicated advocate, broadcaster, and entrepreneur. The ever-supportive mayor of Alfonso Cavite, Hon. Mayor Randy Salamat gave a brief speech, followed by a compelling talk with Mr. Rich Watanabe of the Coffee Heritage Project, who emphasized, "Buhay bilang Pilipino ay nagsisimula, tinutuldukan at nadedefine ng kape." After the Coffee Tree Planting event, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Coffee Art Gallery took place. Rens Tuzon, the President of Sining Kape at Kultura, initiated the program that showcased the artworks of Sining Kape at Kultura. The program ended with an impressive live mud painting performance by Percival Denolo, a member of the group. The event concluded with a coffee art workshop that allowed participants to unleash their creativity. Led by skilled artists of Sining Kape at Kultura, they taught the intricate art of coffee painting.
