THE PHILIPPINES HAS THE WORLD'S 4TH-FASTEST GROWING TOURISM ECONOMY 🇵🇭🇵🇭

If Holy Week is any sign, tourism seems to be on the rise. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council's (WTTC) latest Economic Impact Report (EIR), the Philippines' travel and tourism contribution to the economy would be the fourth fastest-growing travel economy in the world in 2021.

According to the latest data from the EIR, Philippine tourism appears to be on the revival after a prolonged lockdown stopped flights and pushed the country into recession.

In 2021, Philippine tourism's economic contribution increased by a stunning 129.5 percent, amounting to $41 billion, or 10.4 percent of the country's total GDP. While still far below pre-pandemic levels, the data indicates that Philippine tourism is rapidly recovering.

HEAL AS ONE, RECOVER AS ONE

For months, the tourism industry has extremely suffered and has experienced sharply falling revenues.

I put my trust in You, dear Lord.

LOOK: Ongoing works for the installation of a 100 meter cross on the waters of Barangay Tingo in Olango Island.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan expressed hope that the city's cross will win the Guinness World Record for the largest underwater cross in the world. The current title holder, he said, is only 70 meters long.
Chan said the cross will be an added attraction to city's tourists. It will be made of corals to also provide a home to marine animals. | Photo courtesy of Junard "Ahong" Chan

Ogtong Cave, Bantayan Island

Bantayan also known as the island paradise in the Philippines boasts their fine white sand and crystal clear blue waters which are comparable to Boracay Island. One of the Class A resorts found in this island is Ogtong Cave Resort which is also a sister resort of Sta. Fe Beach Club.

Ogtong Cave Resort is situated in Pooc, Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu. It is located on large natural rocks with landscaped garden. It has a grassy lawns and concrete walkways leading to the beach, the cave and the swimming pool. The resort’s swimming pool uses fresh spring water which came from the cave and it is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Ogtong Cave Resort is famous because of the cave found inside the resort. The cave is not the usual bat infested although there might be quite a few farther down the cave’s belly. There is a concrete stairway leading down the cave and the water is clear and clean. The depth of the water varies with the deepest at chest level. It would be relaxing to dip on the fresh waters of the cave and it could probably fit 30-40 people inside the cave. But 20 or less people would be ideal so it’s not that crowded.
