October 11, 2023--As the SEA-TEACHERS Student Exchange Program draws to a close, Batch 9 delegates from University of Halu Oleo, Universitas Negeri Malang, and Universitas Negeri Surabaya were toured by the FEU Cavite Tams Tour & Travel led by Ms. Grace Gison (Tourism Department Chair) and FEU International Relations Office represented by Mr. Pocholo Ma****lo in Tagaytay City today.

LOOK: Empowering the locals through Community Cultural Tour Guiding Training

Aimed at empowering local residents to become passionate ambassadors of cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes in the province, the Department of Tourism Calabarzon, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Cavite through the Office of the Provincial Tourism Officer conducted a 7-day Community Cultural Tour Guiding Training in Magallanes, Cavite last September 4-10, 2023.

Over the course of a week, guided by Mr. Manu S. Del Rosario, DOT Accredited Trainor, the training highlighted the importance of storytelling skills, customer service excellence and environmental awareness of the local guides from Alfonso, Magallanes, Maragondon, Kawit, Imus City and Cavite Tourism. The intensive training involved a tourist guiding simulation and mock tours. Among the places visited during the tour exercises include Utod Falls and Buhay Forest in Magallanes, Bonifacio Trial House and Our Lady of Assumption Church in Maragondon and the Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo in Kawit.

After a series of examination and assessment, Cavite local community tourist guides graduated last September 10, 2023 in a simple rite at the Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo. These graduates are now DOT Accreditation ready, committed to provide immersive and authentic experience for tourists as well as reinforce sustainable tourism practices.

Here’s something to kickstart SY 2023-2024:

All students from Pre-Kinder to College are invited to join the Start of School Year Flag Ceremony which will be conducted at the Basic Education grounds tomorrow, August 14, 2023, at 7:00 AM.

Some reminders:

👉🏽 Bring and wear your school ID.
👉🏽 New students must bring their Enrollment Slip (for Basic Education students) and Certificate of Registration (College).
👉🏽 Those who will come to school via Private Vehicles are reminded that 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐃 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐃. Please proceed to designated parking areas. Our guards shall assist you.
👉🏽 If you are coming from the lowlands of Cavite (e.g. Dasma, Imus, Bacoor, GMA, Carmona, GenTri, Trece, etc.) please expect heavy traffic along Aguinaldo Highway (B**a 1 and B**a 2) due to road works relevant to CALAX construction. We strongly advise travelling early.

FEU CAVITE Represent!

Tamaraws from the Higher Education Department participated and presented their research paper entitled “Cultivating Agritourism destinations in Silang, Cavite : Factors affecting tourists decision-making” in the recently concluded First EDUTOURISM Regional Conference of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) with the theme: Pagbangon Pagkatapos ng Unos : Uniting the Region through Responsive and Revolutionary Tourism Industry Programs and Practices held Hybrid via Zoom and spearheaded by the Laguna State Polytechnic University San Pablo City, Laguna from June 14 to 16, 2023.

Tourism Management students, Althea A. Torres, Aira Nicole D. Jacobo, and Coleen Yssabel R. Sapida, accompanied by their adviser Mr. Reynald Alfred Sy and Ms. Grace Gison the Department Chair of Tourism Management were among the various groups who participated and presented their paper together with other representatives from different universities and colleges across the country.
