TIPS BEFORE THE CLIMB :

Try to walk or do jogging before the climb for atleast 5-10 kms. to make sure that your not getting any cramps during the climb. Ambangeg trail is one of the easiest trail but much better if of all us is well prepared to avoid any problem while trekking.

The past few weeks at work have been tough so a trip to Mt. Kulis in Tanay, Rizal was the break we needed. It was my first mountain tour so I was praying for the weather to cooperate as there were reports of a looming thunderstorm. But thankfully, the weather remained calm all throughout, and I couldn’t contain my excitement. We were joined by 11 young participants whom I easily got along with. The ascent began at around 4:30 AM. By 6:15 AM, we reached Sambong Peak where we were greeted by an amazing and breathtaking sea of clouds. It took another 20 minutes to reach the Heart Peak (named as such because of the heart shaped installation where hikers can take pics). Another attraction is the spider web which is reminiscent of the one in Masungi Georeserve. More pictures were also taken at Noah’s Ark which looked like a boat perched on top of a peak. We then moved on to the rock formation which was definitely not for the faint of heart due to its steep slope. By 2:00 PM, we arrived at the natural free flowing pool where we took a dip. The water from the falls was pretty cold, but refreshing. We ended the trip by riding a 4x4 back to where we started. It was a bumpy ride but a fun one.

There’s nothing like being surrounded by mountains and nature. I’m so glad too that I’ve gained really good friends during this trip - people who I can laugh with and who are game for anything.
