As the 7-day Eco-Guiding Training comes to an end, trainees are equipped with knowledge, skills and competencies of becoming an effective asset of the Tourism Industry of the municipality.

This isn't goodbye, rather this is hello to a bigger world you are about to conquer.

𝗘𝗖𝗢-𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟲

The final task determines the beginning of a greater duty.

Take a look to the series of tests aspiring eco-guide trainees have to conquer to deserve the coveted title: DOT-Accredited Tour Guides. This include WASAR Training, Rappelling, and many more.

Facilitated by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, KARES, and other participating individuals, the Day 6 of the 7-day training bears utmost significance.

𝗘𝗖𝗢-𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟱

The depth of understanding lies on the application of learning.

To test the applicability and knowledge acquired by the participants since day 1, aspiring tour and eco-guides were challenged during the Tour Guiding and Mock Tour.

This is the moment where participants have to speak, to accommodate and assist guests. These essential skills are matters they tackled from the previous sessions.

New day promises new learnings to reap.

The participants of the 7-day Eco-Guiding Training were brought through the realities of being a tour guide. Another esteemed speaker imparted significant takeaways and techniques about tour guiding.

Afterwards, the participants were also given the chance to exercise their learnings by allowing them to talk in front of everyone.

𝗘𝗖𝗢-𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟯

Wandering the wonders of the cave requires adequate knowledge to be effective.

To ensure eco-guides have access to a wealth of knowledge and information concerning the significant principles of guiding guests in caving adventures, Edna B. Parcon, CHRA, the Executive Director of Davao Speleological and Conservation Society (DSpeCS) discussed caving fundamentals.

She also emphasized the importance of adhering to high standards of professionalism in accommodating guests, as well as the essence of risk management in the tour.

To inculcate the significance of fundamental knowledge and intricacies of mountaineering, esteemed personnel from the Mountaineering Federation of Southern Mindanao (MFSM) and Mindanao Mountaineering Community (MMC) shared their expertise with the trainees.

Present from the abovementioned groups were namely: Danilo Bacus Jr., the Project Director, Ryan Andalim, the Training Director, and Gene Somamponh, the MFSM President.

The greatest asset of a visionnary organization is its people.

The Municipality of Kapalong, and Tourism Office, in active coordination with the Department of Tourism XI, MDRRMO, MENRO, and PESO, initiated this 7-day training of eco-guides.

This aims to equip potential eco-guides with proper character, discipline, and knowledge in guiding and accommodating guests.

Held at KWR Perma Culture, Florida, Kapalong from September 16-2024, participants coming from Sua-on Nature's Park and Bubungan Tu' Sangan duly participated.

𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖?

Tagtugonan Waterfalls derived its name from the word tugon which means to relay a message. Other accounts also drew inspiration in naming Tagtugonan from the sound of flowing waters. It resonates like a tug-tug or music to them.

Relaying messages during times of conflict or brimming war is crucial. People will go to Tagtugonan to bring and fetch information regarding their safety and other people as well. This waterfall heard countless conversations since the beginning – and its loud gushing sound now still makes your tugon be known.

Over time, people have treated this water body as culturally significant that tribal Baylans perform thanksgiving rituals. This 155-ft high, 3-tier waterfall connects them to sacredness.
